in the Times today; “Sunak is promising an emergency package to force down NHS waiting lists through tougher targets led by a “backlogs task force”. Language is important and this rhetoric will mean nothing if retention of staff is not prioritised. @goldstone_tony

1/ ~6.5% pay cut for @BMA_Consultants. Will have significant implications for @BMA_Pensions too as many senior doctors will be better off retiring to prevent loss of final salary pension. As for excluding @BMA_JuniorDocs that is an utterly shameful decision from @DHSCgovuk

@mjvlewis I don’t really want to go at 60 (looming closer) but currently I will be because although I seem to willingly give so much of my life and energy as extra to my job and roles (my choice btw) I couldn’t accept financial penalty for doing so. So I reluctantly I will go @BorisJohnson
