Our war on wildlife: now birds are not allowed in trees...?! Pigeon spikes spotted in Clifton, Bristol above a car park. Has anyone seen this before? How is it allowed?! 📷: thanks to Anna Francis

Save Brislington Meadows is a community run campaign that is completely non-political. Our only aim is to have this designated site of nature conservation interest saved from any development so it can be enjoyed by future generations. We don’t care WHO saves it. 💚

A fabulous (full-on) weekend kick-starting the final year of my MA in Nature and Travel Writing at @BathSpaUni. Looking forward to another year buried in creative non-fiction, and crafting words about the wildlife and places we love ❤️

We're seeing it again: FPTP makes a mockery of democracy. 🚨Turning elections into a lottery 🚨Giving 100% of the power to parties with 25% of the vote 🚨Making us vote for the "lesser evil" 🚨Silencing millions of voices Sign the petition to scrap it: actionnetwork.org/petitions/2025…

BREAKING: The West of England has a Mayor that only 25% voted for. 3 in 4 voters chose a different candidate and didn't get the chance to pick their second option. Regardless of which party you support, one thing is clear: this is not a democratic mandate. The system is broken.

What do you have to say @HomesEngland? @KeepmoatHomes haven't got planning yet but already wetland meadow area of Brislington Meadows has been destroyed. It was full of cuckooflower which orange-tip butterflies were laying their eggs on. Now looks like this (photo: Andy Green)

How many people just turned off the television after @Channel4 abruptly cut off #MAFSAustralia to play their new show...?! I'm not playing that game. I'm off to bed.

This is a seminal moment: a Labour government cutting disability benefits. Not just continuing Tory levels. Cutting. This comes after a week of speculation, itself an act of cruelty by a government toying with people’s dignity. These cuts are disgraceful - and will cost lives.

Around a million people will lose maybe £5,000 a year from these 'reforms'. The gainers will receive a pittance. This was not in Labour's manifesto. It is not the change people voted for. It is immoral.

My government is trying to do two incompatible things simultaneously. On the one hand, it’s trying to fix our broken welfare system while saving money. This is not possible, and I told the minister in parliament today that her £5billion cut to disability support would increase hardship in my constituency and is contrary to the values of my party. Ultimately, this Labour government is facing hard limits in doing what is right for our class while appeasing the interests of big business and the wealthy. They are incompatible aims and my party must choose in whose interests we are governing.

The 4 points in one PIP component rule is a calculated tactic to reduce mental health and neurodivergent claimants. I see so many with high needs who don’t hit 4 in one area—so they get nothing. This must be challenged under the Equality Act, and it absolutely will be.

It’s exhausting to “debate” your rights. That’s the case for any journos from a minority. But many disabled people have limited physical energy too. You have every right not to give your precious spoons to platforms that aren’t engaging in good faith. It’s your call, always.

Billionaires in Britain saw their wealth increase by £35 million every single DAY in 2024. We need to fight for a wealth tax on the super-rich. And use the funds to improve the lives of the millions hit hard by our rigged economy. My new article 👇 labouroutlook.org/2025/02/11/the…
