@TAFKASB From a viewer's point of view, we're well over halfway through the tournament. However from a player's point of view (bar Murphy who beat Xiao with a session to spare) they are only halfway through having played 8 sessions with 8 more still to play if they want to win

'It's only half way through the championship' OK technically if you are an anorak that's correct but using common sense it's a load of bollocks. It's one match from the final. Belt up with your half way nonsense.

I totally agree with this. Save coming down those stairs unti that final night. It's something special coming down those stairs on that final night. Also I feel that entering from the top of the arena has become more awkward since barriers got raised after J.S.O protests of 23
Nick Metcalfe@Nick_Metcalfe

I won't lose sleep over it - there's no more sleep left to lose to be frank - but I'm not a fan of the players coming down the stairs for the semi-finals. It should only happen on the last night of the tournament for me. Yours, John Pulman #Snooker

@Enrohd_1992 Maybe not but there was clear contact with Eze and therefore the decision of the ref in originally giving it was not a clear and obvious error. Once it was given, the penalty should have stood

@Miniruks So Gary is worried that we'll see a repeat of the Solskjaer situation if Carrick is given the role permanently

Never heard Neville urge Amorim to walk during his horror show of a tenure. Carrick comes in, wins 9/13, all but seals CL⚽️ & stabilises the club - now Gary, an unprecedented failure as a manager, wants to dictate that the ‘classiest’ thing for Michael is to step aside. Pathetic.

🚨🚨🗣️ Gary Neville on Michael Carrick and the permanent Manchester United head coach job: “I just thought the other day, it would be so classy and Michael-like if he said, ‘guys, I’ve done what I came in to do, I’ve done this job, I’ve got you into the Champions League, I’ve re-stabilised the club, settled the place down — but now go and put someone [else] in.’” #MUFC [@WeAreTheOverlap]

@Miniruks In some ways I understand it though. Michael Carrick has done wonders at United since taking interim control. However another United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also did a similarly good job. His interim role soon became permanent but then things started to go downhill

@RedMarrow_ It's the end result that counts - not how they get there. How many times have we seen Arsenal playing nice football and either not even featuring in a title race or featuring but dropping too many points. If they could somehow win this title race, Arteta will be called a hero

Arsenal are just painful to watch. I'd be fuming if I were an Arsenal fan if this was the end result of a 7-year project after spending over a billion pounds.

@TAFKASB It certainly isn't old when you look at it from an overall point of view. However if you look at it from the view of someone involved in playing a sport professionally, it is quite old. Before "The Class Of 92" most snooker players retired in their early to mid 30s

I saw a tweet earlier pointing out that Mark Allen had a tough draw with Zhang Anda, Kyren Wilson and Barry Hawkins but how about the draw for Higgins! To have to beat Ali Carter, Ronnie O'Sullivan and Neil Robertson back to back. That's arguably a tougher draw than Allen's

@jonmikesav8 Someone's managerial credentials don't necessarily impact on their ability to see the right thing to do. Gary is up in the commentary gantry. So he has a better view of how the game is panning out. Also he's been in many a title winning team and knows what to do in these matches

Gary Neville won 3 of 16 games in his managerial career at Valencia and in those 16 games they NEVER kept a clean sheet. Yet he is telling Michael Carrick what he should do. F**k right off.

John Higgins leading 12 - 10. I wonder if Neil's recoveries in the English Open final 5 years ago, the Tour Championship final 4 years ago and in last year's Masters will come in to play at some point

Hearing the crowd's reaction towards Wu reminds me of hearing the cricket crowd's showing their support for Joe Root

I feel Peter Ebdon would be worth a go if he has some time free. I wasn't his biggest fan when he was a player but a few years ago he had a stint on commentary and made a lot of insightful comments. Higgins also showed promise during his commentary stints in Player's Series

Many of our modern-day commentators are former World Champions — out of the remaining ones still competing in the World Snooker Tour, who would you love to hear in the comms once they retire? Ronnie? Williams? Higgins? Selby? Wilson? Trump?. . . #HaloWorldChampionship

@swanabi He's a class act @swanabi and so are you. You've been a great addition to the snooker family and just like everyone who starts a new job, you keep improving your craft as an interviewer. Well done 👏 👏👏

I also called it. If Wu completes the job I'll be 2 for 3 in terms of semi finalists. Then I'd just be waiting to see if John can complete turnaround against Neil
Martyn Waller@Martynw34

Both me @Exsnookerpro called it that Shaun Murphy would beat Xintong when most thought the Chinese would be too strong, Murphy can definitely win this tournament , many don't like him so painfully underrate him as a player #worldsnookerchampionsips

In 2019 it was O'Sullivan. In 2020 it was Maguire. In 2021 & 22 it was Robertson. In 2023 it was Murphy. In 2024 it was Williams. In 2025 it was Higgins. Now in 2026 it's Zhao

@TSnooker102 Robertson v Higgins is the headline QF. They're both former champions. They're 2 of the highest ranked players left in the tournament at 3 and 5 respectively and they've had a lot of great battles in the past. I'd say there was every reason for it be main feature in the morning

Why is Robertson vs Higgins the main TV match when Allen and Allen play to a finish? Horrible decision.
