I was watching the body count debate blow up on YouTube again and I keep seeing people get it wrong on both sides. One side says the number tells you everything. The other says it tells you nothing. Both are missing it. The real issue is pair-bonding. A woman with a long history of casual sex genuinely has a harder time forming that deep, singular bond with one partner — not because she's a bad person, but because of how bonding works differently in men and women. That's a real thing. And men being able to rack up numbers without that same effect isn't proof the double standard is fair — it's just proof the chemistry is different. But here's what I believe: a relationship is a decision. If two people are actively choosing each other, choosing it even when it's hard, that outweighs the past every single time. Men are done with committed relationships for the exact same reason women are done with situationships — they both got burned from the other side. Women are tired of giving time to someone who won't commit. Men are tired of committing everything to someone who still leaves. Two different wounds. Same result. Real healthy relationships are boring by design. Budgets. Routine. Planning out the passion instead of it just happening. Most people can't handle that because social media is always handing you a way out. She gets validation from strangers the moment he falls short. He's got apps that make moving on feel easy the moment he feels unappreciated. There's no weight to loyalty when the exit ramp is always one swipe away. Both sides say they're done.
