@JoelEhrenberg @dan_themandan Bears are already paying for their own stadium. The issues are -will they be allowed to own that property & collect the revenue? -Should they pay the most of any team in the NFL in property taxes (the Bears’ preference) or 5 times more than any team in the NFL (IL’s preference)

@dan_themandan @KCPSShain LMAO, you mean the politicians think the billionaire sports team should pay for their own stadium? The horror !

Bears stadium situation dumbed down: Illinois had 5 years to give the Bears a tax deal anywhere close to every other franchise in the NFL. Politicians failed and were antagonistic every step of the way. Bears used the Indiana move first as a ploy, but then Indiana offered 1/2

@brianpackfan @KCPSShain The Packers actually play in Green Bay. Lambeau Field is *right* inside city limits by a hair. And it's spelled Ashwaubenon

@theikigaiguy Renovated 25 years ago, but no, it’s not new. It’s also by far the smallest, most dilapidated stadium in the NFL and has maybe the worst access and gameday experience.

@KCPSShain 1. Handing out money to billionaires is bad. 2. Don’t get to complain if you don’t vote.

@a_bryers Tell that to the other 16 NFL teams who aren’t in the city they’re named after.

@KCPSShain They should rename them selves the Midway Bears. Just take the city’s name out of it.

@HA_Shaban @brianm1669 If you’re Illinois, would you rather collect $40 million in taxes or $0 in taxes (what they will collect if the Bears leave Illinois)?

@KCPSShain @brianm1669 Help me understand how avoiding paying the local taxes places them “in the right”. How about shut the fuck up and pay your taxes?

@kered4321 No other NFL franchise pays the regular commercial property tax rate for their state/county. That would be outrageous.

@KCPSShain So what's the big deal? In case you've missed the news, the New York Giants and New York Jets have been playing in New Jersey for decades. No, "every other franchise in the NFL" hasnt gotten a deal like the Bears want from their home city.

@Koji_Vu That’s when it was renovated, but it goes far beyond it being the smallest stadium in the NFL and arguably one of the worst gameday experiences. There’s also the ownership issue, the complete lack of upkeep from those who are the caretakers, etc.

@KCPSShain I mean, the stadium they currently play in is only 23 years old, right?

@DarthKevin81 The Bears are literally paying for their own stadium, an extreme rarity this day and age.

@KCPSShain I’m surprised you can type with all that Mccaskey cock in your mouth. Maybe leave dumbing down for the intelligent? Chicago has never stopped the Bears from building a new stadium but there is no reason tax payers should pay for it.

@brianm1669 That’s fine, but then you’re not getting a professional franchise. Bears are paying for their own stadium (an extreme rarity) and want a tax deal at least close to what every other NFL team gets. The Bears often make questionable decisions, but they’re in the right here.
