ICE is denying me entry to Delaney Hall – raising serious questions about what is happening behind its walls. Last night in Jersey City, I met with families whose loved ones are being detained there. What I heard only deepened my concerns. Families shared heartbreaking reports of unsafe, inhumane, and unconstitutional conditions – detainees being denied access to proper medical care and medication, violence and intimidation, threats of losing phone and video access, visitation privileges being taken away, and deeply troubling accounts of detainees being pressured to sign deportation papers with no translation. Every person deserves to be treated with dignity. Everyone is entitled to due process. And every family deserves the ability to see and advocate for their loved ones. I will continue fighting for accountability, transparency, and better conditions at Delaney Hall. The detainees have requested to meet with me and I want to meet with them. We will continue standing with these families, faith leaders, advocates, and peaceful protesters as we work toward the ultimate goal of closing Delaney Hall.

Today, representatives of all Allied countries were present here in Ukraine at the NATO–Ukraine Council – after Russia tried to squeeze our partners out of the country and intimidate embassies. The result was a highly symbolic meeting in Kyiv. Its main message is clear: Ukraine should be supported more. Especially in areas such as anti-ballistic capabilities. Our partners have decided on new contributions to the PURL initiative – they are coming in June. We are also doing everything possible to accelerate Europe’s work on its own anti-ballistic capabilities.

We began the visit of NATO’s North Atlantic Council to Ukraine by honoring the memory of fallen Ukrainian warriors at the Wall of Remembrance. Along with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte @SecGenNATO, Chair of the Alliance’s Military Committee Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone @CMC_NATO, as well as the permanent representatives and deputy permanent representatives of all 32 NATO member states. We deeply appreciate this sign of respect from the Alliance representatives toward our warriors, who defended our country and all of Europe from Russian evil. It is profoundly important to remember every single man and woman thanks to whom we have the opportunity to live freely and choose our own way of life. I held a meeting on additional ways to supply air defense to Ukraine – both systems and interceptors. We have an agreement at the highest political level on the purchase of Patriot systems, and this agreement is awaiting implementation at the financial, legal, and technical levels. The wait has taken too long. Today’s meeting was attended by representatives of defense and foreign ministries, the National Security and Defense Council, and the Office’s diplomatic team. The task is absolutely clear: to speed up this Patriot contract, and the involved officials are personally responsible. The funds from the EUR 90 billion European support package along with our other financial resources, must be used as quickly as possible to fulfill the very tasks that ensure the protection of Ukrainian lives. Unfortunately, as of today, even the legal aspects of this contract have not yet been worked through. I have set a final deadline – one week for all preparatory steps. I expect a report on Friday: either clarity regarding the implementation of our agreement on the Patriot systems, or serious personnel decisions. Glory to Ukraine!
