Tyler Black thinks that SSRIs work for children despite zero statistically significant benefits demonstrated in randomized trials, so maybe he's not the best person to talk about evidence?

The only good thing after getting your life, your mind and your mental health back, after iatrogenic injury, is knowing you did that without and in spite of psychiatry’s “help.”

@cchruk They would never be approved today. Psychiatrists who promote ECT know that. I have challenged them about the status of these machines many times, but they don't have the integrity to do the right thing and put them through the testing process. They'd rather just block me.

@benzosarebad @FiveRedkin George has only ever been interested in 'good news' stories. I'm imagining his response to any patient reporting severe cognitive impairment, and I can't imagine he'd even believe them. He's convinced himself such injuries are 'impossible'. Must be the patient's mental illness.

@benzosarebad @FiveRedkin Pro ECT psychiatrists like Kirov and Howard could easily settle the question of safety and the enduring adverse effects of ECT by supporting an independent investigation into the procedure. Of course, this is the last thing they want to happen.

@HenryRunamucker @harriet48293 3/3 Memory loss is brutal and often permanent—autobiographical black holes that never fully return. Patients report it, studies confirm it. ECT boosters dodge modern trials because they know it’ll fail scrutiny. Outdated. Dangerous. Done. @ProfRobHoward

"- The idea that depression stems from a brain dysfunction can harm patients. - An alternative view, that depression is a signal that your needs are not being met, has better outcomes. - A growing body of evidence supports the theory that depression is a functional signal." psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-bi…

@GeorgeKirov1 @ProfRobHoward @ReadReadj Psychiatrists will continue to cause harm to patients with ECT, just as they have done since before I was born, now some choose to deny that harm. Perhaps there was more honesty years ago about ECT, there was no pretence that it did not cause such harm

@ValerieAnne1970 “Lobotomy. Electroshock. Silent suffering hidden behind the word ‘treatment.’ Minds shattered, memories fading, lives forever changed. And still, we call it progress. How many voices were never heard? How many stories were erased? Remember Rosemary Kennedy. She was one of many.

The number of children on antipsychotics quintupled between 1993 and 2009. There was no epidemic. There was a marketing campaign.

@ReadReadj Spot on—“treatment-resistant” is pharma spin blaming patients when drugs fail. TEWV overdrugs patients, forces separations from families by unaccredited staff, then coerces ECT. No wonder they're under statutory inquiry. This harm must end. #TEWVInquiry

@ReadReadj @MichaelGri22086 That's one of the saddest illustrations I've seen. And not explained by medication effects? After decades of hospitalisation, I find that very hard to believe. Do these people seriously think they're helping?

“Treatment-resistant” means the drugs didn’t work, as usual. Drug company invention to locate the failure of their drugs in the patient. Mindlessly regurgitated by some psychiatrists (not all)
JAMA Psychiatry@JAMAPsych

Among individuals with severe, treatment-resistant #Schizophrenia, #dementia was common and showed a distinct clinical and genetic profile not explained by #Alzheimer disease, cardiovascular risk, or medication effects. ja.ma/4uWAsGG

@JAMAPsych But actually do you see that the medication effects do indeed include Parkinsonism, tremors, cognitive decline and increased risk of stroke! There you go! Fixed it!

@rey34721 Unfortunately the shills are taken seriously. That's why I and many others here like me have been trying to raise awareness of serious safety issues and iatrogenic harm. Over a decade now and still here we are...
