I know we’re all angry but the reason why Slot was so quick to manage expectations after Wednesday was because of gassed out we look when we came out in the second half. The first half was more equal, I would give us a slight advantage over them in terms of chances scored vs conceded. The minute Ekitike stepped off the pitch we lost the ability to stretch play vertically, Wirtz who struggled quite a bit had to play the role of an outlet, which isn’t his strong suit and the introduction of Curtis Jones meant we became more ball to feet collectively, leading to less dangerous penetrating runs. Runs from deep from Macca, Jones etc made a slight impact but it’s not the same as Salah, Isak or Ekitike. Once the ability to get in-behind their defence vanished, we were pretty cooked.
