Just watched Amadeus. It's delightfully white. I hate to think how this would have looked if made today, with black people shoehorned in to every scene, and Salieri and Mozart being portrayed by black women. Got to love his Tucker Carlson laugh.

@based_yeoman @OpenSourceZone @MysteryGrove Way too early to say. Nobody has announced running yet. The board will look entirely different in a year or more going into 2028. I imagine there may be some known and “currently unknown on the national stage” people who run being influenced by Trump and populism.

@based_yeoman @OpenSourceZone @MysteryGrove The math just isn't working there. And you brought up identity politics, thin margins, first. We just need a White Protestant Trump figure with more identity politics to win over more Whites and Protestants, and even build on the numbers Trump got with Catholics and Hispanics.

Yeah I mean that would probably Lynne the more safe and traditional approach for the GOP. Personally I’m more interested in *expanding the GOP electorate, in pressing our advantage, and I think a Catholic Hispanic with broad appeal among the moderate center is the ideal Republican to do just that. Constituencies that are up for grabs: Hispanics ✅ Catholics ✅ Moderates/Independents ✅ Suburban women ✅

@based_yeoman @OpenSourceZone @MysteryGrove If we’re doing the identity politics thing then why not go with a White person who leans into it? More White people to win over for those thin margins compared to Hispanics. Also there are more Protestants no? Imagine if we run a White Protestant who leaned it more than Trump.

Hispanics aren’t the majority, yes. But in our razor thin elections we win on the margins. Swinging Hispanics from 55% Harris in 2024 to 60% Rubio in 2028 is huge and very possible. Vance can’t do that. If Trump did so well with Hispanics, imagine how well Rubio will do. I read a post from Brian Krassenstein of all people acknowledging Ribio’s competence. Do you realize how bullish that is for Ribio of a partisan Dem hack can entertain him. I also forgot to mention Catholics, another key demo that is up for grabs. Rubio will do very well with them. This is a strong candidate as long as he can stay out of scandals under Trump’s increasingly wobbly administration.

@based_yeoman @OpenSourceZone @MysteryGrove Trump was able to win a lot of those groups without the identity politics. Hispanic identity politics in 2028? Can I get a based? Also you never addressed the majority part. Hispanics aren’t the majority and if we’re doing identity politics now, well then you already know.

Hispanics are 20%, which is big. They’re key in more contested states like NV and AZ. And Rubio will help downstream elections (governors offices, congress, state legislatures) in additional states with Hispanics and more moderate voters. Importantly, elections today are razor thin, so if you can peel off voters from one coalition (Dems) and move them over to another coalition (gop) it’s like a double positive. That’s where the Hispanic thesis shines. I mentioned independents. He polls well with them, and they are also crucial to win over in razor thin elections like ours. Blacks. Who cares. They’re in the can for Dems and will remain so to a large extent. Priced in. I think white republicans will easily go for Rubio. The rust belt is pretty important too, that’s rubio’s only weakness I see and he will need to balance out the ticket with a white midwestern type of guy. Suburban women will also find Rubio palatable, another key demo. Betting markets favor Rubio. He is perceived as competent, which plays well with more educated voters. He has many allies in congress who will help bolster his campaign at the state level. And go in the stump for him. He is alsoEXCELLENT with the media, very polished. Also key. Fundraising won’t be an issue either. Also see below for a perfect speech that captures the essence of America, delivered exceptionally and convincingly. Like a statesman. How could you not want to vote for this?!

Secretary Rubio just dropped some real hope for America's future Kelly Wright asked him the big question and his answer hits different. Strong leadership, deep faith, and a clear vision this is what we need.

@based_yeoman @OpenSourceZone @MysteryGrove What are the rules exactly? Trump isn’t Hispanic and look how many Hispanic people voted for him. Also if Hispanic people mostly vote for Hispanic people then what about other ethnicities? Will that make other ethnicities vote for them less? Also Hispanics aren’t the majority.

I don’t make the rules, man. If we want to maintain a governing majority through this crucial crisis period we will need to win over Hispanic voters. Plus Rubio has broad appeal among independents, and even some moderate democrats. Marco Rubio is a slam dunk, Vance is much more of a risk.

@based_yeoman @OpenSourceZone @MysteryGrove So the Democrat logic of “Vote for my candidate since their race/cultural background/ethnicity is the same as yours”. Wow okay. Guess the GOP needs a Hispanic Obama now.

Center right statesman following the rollercoaster that will have been Trump, who can pull the vitally important Hispanic vote over to the GOP, and who will be a powerhouse in terms of American policy as it relates to Pinot to Latin America. And I’m telling you if Rubio speaks Spanish in one debate and gets a laugh line or two at the expense of his Democrat vote for that’ll be good for a million Hispanic votes or more

Exclusive from @oliver_wright Dartmoor ponies could be subject to mass culling to reduce the impact on biodiversity after a controversial ruling by the government’s environmental quango Natural England has demanded that all livestock grazing on the moor is reduced by about 75 per cent to protect other habitats, plants and species The move looks set to result in the culling of up to nine in ten of the semi-wild ponies as farmers prioritise their own cattle and sheep to remain within Natural England’s limit to minimise the impact on their own livelihoods Natural England argued that the move was necessary to protect the diversity of Dartmoor, which is a designated site of special scientific interest However, the plan goes against a government commissioned review into the future of Dartmoor, published two years ago, which concluded that Natural England “should not take actions likely to result in a reduction in pony numbers”, adding they were “invaluable for conservation grazing” The move has led to claims that the quango is acting as judge, jury and executioner of the ponies — a species which is itself seen as endangered Dartmoor ponies could be put to death under biodiversity plans thetimes.com/article/ba529f…
