This morning in professional learning I ran not one but two @Amplify Donuts and Desmos sessions, an advanced and a beginners one. It was awesome to introduce the Activity Builder to science teachers who had never seen it before. #donutswithAmplify

Congratulations to the entire cast and crew of Percy Jackson. You completely rocked it. This little fan (and big fan too) adored the show and you brought her heroes to life. @NCHS_CT

@pamela_brett Best book for a new HS math teacher for summer reading? “Math Play” by @MrValencia24 …or “The Martian”…not a true ‘math’ read, but it’s a super reminder of why we do math…to solve problems.

Is there a name for the little number inside the tick of the radical when you do cube roots, fourth roots etc? Is it called the "degree" or the "order" maybe?

Here is the last picture with all the chess pieces since they are finished printing. These were designed in @Desmos part of a summative project on integrals, calculated the volume of them, imported into @tinkercad revolved, tinkered with and then 3D printed. @NCHS_CT

@Botany_nerd @TeachMrReed The why is always more important. When you look across the standards if there are patterns in can help you create a plan for how to improve. I teach math so I also look for whether mistakes on assessments are careless, procedural or conceptual.

@Math_efki @TeachMrReed This. Getting to the why is important. And connect them with resources that will help them to succeed.

If a student in an English class is 1 percent away from passing the class with just one more essay due, do you: 1. Pass them if their work is “decent.” 2. Teach them the lesson of not being so close to the edge. FAIL. 3. Give opportunities for extra credit? 4. Something else?
