@KimGulledge Another option is to assign a fractional value (like cost) to each item - even if they don't seem fractional. For example, a collection of buttons and you ask "if each button costs 1/10 of a dollar, how much would this collection cost?"

@KimGulledge Hi @KimGulledge! I love pattern blocks because you can say "what if the yellow hexagon is worth 1, what is the value of your collection?" (remove the squares and skinny rhombi). You can obviously choose different shapes to be worth 1, which will change the value as well.

@BerkeleyEverett @drnickimath Do either of you know of a resource that has printable tape diagrams for basic addition and subtraction faces? Similar to the math flips. Thank you!

Anyone like to do math and look at student work together? One grant I work on is offering one last session of online PD starting next Monday. Stipend for those who complete. A few optional Zoom sessions. Love to have some of you join us! encompassmath.org/orcids-profess…

Help please. Counting by 9s, I see if I start at 4 and count 4 hops, I get to 4 tens or 40. If I start at 13, and hop 13 hops, I get to 13 tens or 130. Same with 22 and 22 hops- 22 tens or 220. Can you help me think about why? #choralcounting @BerkeleyEverett @jody_guarino

@abadabbaa Hi Abby! I don’t post here very often any more - you can check out my website for resources but I’d suggest following someone like @jennalaib who still writes awesome blog posts!
