I remember watching it at the Drive-in and having a great time.
I love that movie.

Maybe that fan-art isn't up to the standards of the original artist.
The kid was inspired enough to even try.

Likewise with trashy teen anime.
You'll often spot plagiarism and homages in them all.
Other times it's a new interpretation of the same kind of experience.
You don't want either to get censored.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to learn about the concepts of negative space and backgrounds with extra space for motion.
The next step is try describing more detail in less brush strokes in the drawing.
