FIRST ALERT: An "Air Quality Alert" will remain in place for the Lowcountry through Thursday night! #Wildfire smoke from Georgia and parts of South Carolina are being pushed into our region. Individuals with respiratory health issues should limit time spend outdoors. #SCWX #GAWX

We are aware of an abundance of smoke from numerous active wildfires in central and southern Georgia that is being driven toward South Carolina by southwesterly winds. This smoke is affecting our eastern counties, the lowcountry and even Midlands areas. If you are seeing and/or smelling wildfire smoke, it is most likely from those wildfires in Georgia. EARTH DAY: Comfortable weather conditions will make it easy for us to celebrate Earth Day outdoors on Wednesday! Most afternoon cleanups around the Lowcountry should feature temperatures around 80° - generally close to our late-April averages. #SCWX #CHSWX #EarthDay

FIRST ALERT: A "Coastal Flood Advisory" is in effect until 2 AM Wednesday for the coastlines of Charleston and Colleton Counties! Light onshore winds may lead to instances of minor roadway and shoreline flooding, especially in our typical flood-prone spots. #SCWX #CHSWX

FIRST ALERT: #EarthDay Wednesday will mark the return of above-average temperatures for the Lowcountry! Morning lows are likely to span the 40s and 50s for most, followed by afternoon highs of around 80°. Warmer highs are expected late this week. #SCWX

DROUGHT PERSISTS: Data provided by @NOAANCEI gives a new perspective of how serious our drought situation has gotten! Based on these projections, most Lowcountry communities would need to see at least 8" of rain by late May for our drought to come to an end. #SCWX #CHSWX

⚠️WATCH: @NCPD and other agencies are on the scene of a large brush fire near Weber Blvd and Blue House Rd! Road closures have been issued for Weber Blvd, Blue House Rd and Ingleside Blvd. The eastbound off-ramp from I-26 to Weber Blvd (Exit 206) has also been closed. #SCWX

BREAKING: We are getting reports of a brush fire in the Givhans community of Dorchester County, as of Saturday evening! Per the @ForestryCommish, the Campbell Road Fire has burned 85 acres since this afternoon, and is currently 30% contained. #SCWX @Live5Weather @Live5News

FIRST ALERT: A "Coastal Flood Advisory" will go into effect for Charleston County tonight (4/18) from 8PM - 11PM. High tide is at 9:35 PM. Minor saltwater flooding is possible which could result in some roads becoming impassable.

AT THE BEACH: Southerly winds may be keeping temperatures cooler for our coastal communities... but it's also keeping our rip current risk elevated! A "moderate" rip current risk is in effect for Saturday; use extreme caution if you plan to be in the water. #SCWX #CHSWX

FIRST ALERT TRAFFIC (9:50 PM) - Foster Creek Road (Goose Creek/Hanahan) is blocked near the intersection of Westminster Boulevard. Please use alternate routes to travel around the Carlton Place and Tanner Plantation neighborhoods. #CHSTRFC

Clements Ferry Road is closed near Reflectance Drive due to a collision between a vehicle and an 18-wheeler. Northbound traffic is being diverted to Reflectance Drive, and southbound traffic is being diverted to Bennington Drive. One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
