They were arrested for no offence. They were humiliated and tortured. They have been denied medical treatment. They have been unfairly denied bail. They are deprived of basic human rights. Yet the reality is this: ONE DAY THE LAND SHALL BE FREE

@eddiemahembe That's always been my point. We can't "export" our problems to neighboring countries. We have to fix our own macro, big-issue problems: a functional health service; a functional rail service (passenger & freight); a better regulatory framework for business.

Defend The Constitution Platform
Our accounts were hacked, but we have successfully retrieved them back. To every Zimbabwean out there: we know the confusion and noise that disruption caused. Now that we’re back, let’s speak plainly. No constitutional change should ever be slipped through in the shadows not through backrooms, not through technicalities and certainly not while voices are silenced. A constitution belongs to the people, not to politicians or power-brokers. That’s why we say: a referendum is not a mere formality. It is the very heartbeat of democracy. It forces every proposal to stand in the open, where you the worker, the farmer, the trader, the youth get to say YES or NO with your own hand and your own voice. Without that, any change is just a decree dressed in legal cloth. With it, we turn power back where it belongs: to the millions who wake up every day to build this nation. So let’s hold the line together. No shortcuts. No quiet deals. #ReferendumFirst because your will must come before anyone’s agenda. #DefendTheConstitution #NoTo2030

The greatest mistake is to conclude that the opposition is dead because a few leaders & elected officials have betrayed the cause. Leaders & elected officials aren't the opposition. The opposition base is intact & is against 2030. New leadership is emerging to replace sellouts!

Dear Sabhuku, ED has played his part. He should go. He can’t destroy our country for the sake of his Zvigananda friends. He is NOT the last born of Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 There are many leaders, even better than him, who need to be given a chance. #NoToED2030 #NoToCAB3

This is as brazen an attack on the President as one can ever give and coming from his own Deputy its shocking. For one so close to the President to resort to this is diplomatically gross and strategically poor. The VP is now seriously endangering his standing by pandering to the whims of social media and the opposition by indulging in content creation. The subject matter which he poorly dresses in Biblical frocks instead of explicitly stating his opposition to CAB3, as any serious politician would do, shows his level of frustration. Politically the man has been outmanoeuvred and if he is sincere that he opposes what ZANU PF has come to represent then he should resign like any self-respecting leader. What he is contesting is a party decision and he can't continue within an entity whose thinking and direction he doesn't accept! Resigning, not metaphors, is the only redemptive path for him. He should resign and then canvass for the support of the opposition, which he is clearly pandering to, against his own party. CAB3 is not the product of any single individual but is a ZANU PF project, a party to which he belongs. He cannot reduce it to any single Hezekiah when he has been part of Cabinet that approved it. He failed to block the resolution from the Conference, Politburo, Central Committee, Cabinet, Public Hearings and we are now reaching the Parliament stage. For the ruling party he has become the main opposition, providing fodder for continued tension and instability through such veiled attacks. The biggest takeaway from all this is that he lacks the necessary political muscle and internal support for anything of significance. Thats a hard truth which the doomsday prophets should quickly recognise and stop putting pressure on him to become some action hero. Party members have accepted the party decisions and moved on. Only social media and the motley crowd of illusionists hanging in shadows amount to the "army" that are beckoning him into what will surely amount to self-immolation. Fuelled by this "virtual army" he has instigated multiple political infractions goading President Mnangagwa who has himself remained dignified and quiet. ED's patience and Long-Game tactics are clearly unsettling him. It's just that the political standards for the opposition, which has embraced him on social media, is very low such that they can't recognise the absurdity of the VP remaining part of the machinery which they deride and yet embrace him as a shining light. For the ruling party he is becoming a liability publicly questioning party resolutions and feeding the public mentality with treasonous thoughts.

CAB3 was never necessary in the first place. ED should respect Zimbabweans and the Constitution. He should allow Zanu-PF and Zimbabweans to choose new leaders and let the country move on. Zimbabwe will remain alive, even more prosperous, after ED and #ZviganandaPF! #NoToED2030

We are not doing it because we believe Parliament will stop this, we are doing as evidence of our rejection. We will print anonymous copies and deliver them to Josiah Magama barracks too

@freemanchari @MakomboreroH What does it even help with. Participating in a criminal act is as good as sanitizing the crime. I don't see any of that can stop ZANU from changing the constitution. Rather stop encouraging people to be taken for a spin.

I have been made to understand that some Dzakutsaku, Patrick Chinamasa, @ChinamasaPA, who was never a member of Zanu, or Zanla, during the liberation struggle, has bizarrely declared that "how a President of the country was to be elected, whether by people or by parliament, was never an issue on the table during our liberation history." I am also made to understand that he dared "anyone to retrieve from NDP, ANC, ZAPU, ZANU, Zipra or Zanla pre-independence" literature any excerpts to the contrary Anyway, here you are Mr Dzakutsaku. I am fortunate that my father used to take me to Zanu night meetings in Mkoba in Gweru as a five year-old & I developed a keen interest in our liberation history & as soon as I learnt how to read English, I began to interact with literature on the liberation struggle which was available in the house. I have kept some of the literature. For the purposes of the discussion started by @ChinamasaPA, I am referring him to pages 11 & 22-23 of the November 27, 1973 "Mwenje No2 Zanu Political Programme." The "Zanu Political Programme" booklet makes it clear that in a free Zimbabwe, "EVERY CITIZEN of Zimbabwe shall have the right to exercise A FREE VOTE to elect members of the National Assembly and ALL OTHER STATE INSTITUTIONS." Surely, the office of the President is one of the most important parts of what the document here refers to as "ALL OTHER STATE INSTITUTIONS." In the spirit of the document, the occupant of that office should be elected by "Every citizen of Zimbabwe." The same document pledges that " the supreme legislative authority shall rest in the "MASSES OF THE PEOPLE" and that "usurpation of the POWERS OF THE PEOPLE will not be permitted." The Zanu policy document was even clear on subjecting "major policy issues" to "referenda." The document reads, "ALL CITIZENS of Zimbabwe shall participate in decision-making and policy formation through the Party, REFERENDA on major policy issues and effective use of the people's power in ALL institutions of the state." The document even mentions that terms of office were supposed to be 5 years for every office holder and that these office holders were not supposed to be imposed on the people by "Party bosses." The same document also proposed the abolishment of the colonial parliamentary system and all its discriminatory laws. So those arguing for taking us back to the colonial parliamentary election system are antithetical to the very transformation of the system that Zanu proposed in the policy programme. The document reads, " the present National Assembly will be abolished and all its discriminatory laws declared null and void" So the system of reserved seats for whites had to be abolished. The indirect election of MPs had to be abolished and the election of the Head of State by Parliament had to be abolished. Thats the transformation that Zanu promised and that's the basis on which cadres were recruited to fight the liberation struggle. So Mr Dzakutsaku, @ChinamasaPA be instructed accordingly. It's unfortunate you weren't part of the liberation forces, you were fighting to preserve the colonial system with other counter-revolutionaries like Mzorewa so you have no idea why the war was fought. Anyway, I am attaching the quoted pages for your own reading.

#CAB3 increases the President’s control over: - elections - courts - Parliament - prosecutors - traditional leaders Makes our Parliament undemocratic Takes away our right to vote for the President & gives it to that undemocratic Parliament Deprives us of a say in a referendum

@TrevorNcube Are we really saying a “parasite that cannot be negotiated with, cannot be reformed, cannot be waited upon” will somehow be “uprooted, root and branch” by sending a written objection to the Clerk of Parliament.

ZANU PF is not a political party that lost its way. It is an evil system. A political, economic and social parasite. It cannot be negotiated with. Cannot be reformed. Cannot be waited out. It has attracted the greedy, the opportunistic, every manner of social misfit. Mediocrity is now the standard. And this system is now in some of us — in how we drive, how we treat each other, how we litter our streets. It must be uprooted root and branch. Here is what you do, starting today: You have until 17 May to send written opposition to CAB3 to the Clerk of Parliament. I will soon publish a template for this. Use it. Share it. Make your MP answer publicly for their vote. Seven specific actions. A programme, not slogans.
