And now for a thread no one asked for that I will abandon in a week or two, here's my personal assessment of each E.R character. I'm going to use the IMDB cast list starting with the 1st episode until I run out of steam. I may also do an assessment of their major love interests.

At one point in college, I had an obese roommate. After a few weeks, she complained about how lucky I was to be thin, since I ate more than her. The thing is, however, that I absolutely did not eat more than her, in terms of calories or just amount of food. She put ranch on everything. 600 calorie drinks. Endless snacking. Maybe my plate was more full than hers at dinner, but it was obvious tp everyone but her that she was consuming more throughout the day. I'm sorry, but after multiple instances of this happening with other overweight people, I just don't trust when someone heavy insists they're in caloric deficit. Maybe some people lose weight faster than others. For sure. But it's simple science that if calories out exceed calories in, you WILL lose weight.
Hockey Farmer🥶🏴‍☠️🇹🇹@grfarmgoat

@anymanfitness I ate 1200 for 44 days straight. Measured and weighed everything. I gained weight. I wish was I kidding.

Instead, these kids are getting older and floundering in social settings, in environments outside of their homes. And Instead of recognizing this and correcting, parents excuse the behaviors, blame it on other kids, teachers, etc and their kids fall further behind in development

These kids aren't getting the guidance they need in these familial interactions and common emotional management points to take into situations outside of their homes and parents aren't getting practice in the younger years to have the confidence to manage as it gets harder

Another example of the kind of overwrought, emotional immature parenting that's wrecking education and causing teachers to flee the profession. They don't want to navigate parenting. They want to create an environment where they dont have to parent.

@ok6ixx I tried to let my kids know this door was open early. I'd ask if there was a girl they liked at school and when they'd say no I'd say oh, well is there a boy? And they'd say no and I'd say, well that's cool, cause like you know it would be cool either way, right?

So today on the bus there was this little boy, he was talking to his mom about how he had a crush on someone in his class. His mom asked him "Oh, what's her name, honey" and he said "no". All she said was "Oh, is it a boy then?" with a smile on her face, and then asked what his name was. Then the boy told her to guess and so the conversation went on. This is how a parent should react, all respect to this woman.

@InfoOetken @TNsmartass @noedenelsewhere There is no protection in the idea that it's a child's job to ensure grandpa doesn't hurt them. And I question how much she was explicitly told and how much she picked up after getting in trouble for these individual things. Grandpa was scarier than a house fire...

Reading Amy Duggar King’s book ‘Holy Disruptor’ and OMG Grandpa Duggar was a straight up lazy SOB predator…and Grandma Duggar let him get away w/every single bit of it. Before you say ‘oh she had no choice.” BS - Grandma Duggar was the breadwinner. #duggars #duggarfamily

@Moonlight_myths Oh ffs, your sister needs to divorce his ass and let him walk. Why raise kids with a dummy? And fwiw, there isn't always a straight genetic line. The gene pool just does funny things sometimes. But also, he's probably a cheater himself.

My sister gave birth to a red-haired daughter. But she and her husband are both dark-haired. No one in our family has red hair. My sister insists that her husband's great-grandfather was red-haired, and that's how it was passed down. Her husband didn't believe her, especially since she has this one red-haired colleague at work. Anyway, he insisted on a DNA test, which they did after huge fights and screaming matches. My sister threw the paper in his face. It showed 99.9% he's the father. But he still doesn't believe it, says the test could have been faked or someone paid off the lab. He wants to do another one at a different lab, but my sister is afraid this will definitely lead them to divorce He's not even talking to my sister right now. But he says it's better to find out the truth and live with a clear conscience. He doesn't want to raise someone else's child. I believe my sister 100%, but I have to admit the situation is pretty bizarre. Does anyone know anything about genetics?

@royllovians Farmer gets evicted after years of poor yield, moves in with his BIL who gets him work at the mine. Mine has accident, shuts down operations but the earl in the next county has married and is come to expand his fields, needs 25 labors, now we're in agriculture again.

@royllovians But that person is stupid because what is this? Who exactly came to America if no one changed occupations? You might not change class often but occupation/industry, sure, even without leaving England. And agri to coal mining and back likely happened all the time

Do people think the youngest son of the eldest daughter of the second-youngest son of the middle son of the youngest daughter of the youngest son of the youngest son of the third daughter of the second son of the youngest son of a duke was also a duke?

@royllovians It only takes about 2 days of Bridgerton discourse to realize that no, they have no idea that Benedict's son will pay rent to Daphne's little boy when he becomes Duke of Hastings and leases one of the larger properties that make up the Hastings estate.

@MurrayHillGuy1 Now why on earth would you think that's all suburban people ever do? Like yeah, some are errand weekends but like I own a car, we live near cities, and we live near nature shit, do weekend road trips, visit the farmer's market, wander the nature preserve and shit, etc

How do people in the suburbs genuinely look forward to Friday night on the couch, Saturday morning at Costco, and call that a weekend? Like you really moved out of the city just to LARP as your parents at 34?

@a_eldstdaughter But it's not even always that petty. Your supervisor is a dick, they don't run their department well, the expectations of your position are ridiculous, they are terse AF to you, deny PTO, etc. HR can't save you from a garden variety shitty employee who is following the law/policy

@MoreOrLessAMess And people forget that HR has to answer to the federal and state government, so sometimes the answer is no to something because of law, not them being meanies. (again, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, but I know there are awful HR departments)

My biased take, because I know the people in the HR department, is that sometimes it's actually the employee or their manager who is acting poorly and expects HR to bend to them. So yes, sometimes it's the department itself, but sometimes there's more.
Corbie@Corbienest

As someone who used to work in HR, I need you to listen VERY CLOSELY: HR is there for the company! Not the employee. They are not your friend. They are not on your side. Ever. They are there to manage people problems for the company. Complainers ARE problems.

@a_eldstdaughter Yup! I've run into some ain't shit HR departments but with far greater frequency I run into people who want HR to side with them in a personality conflict, who want HR to make their manager grant an exception they don't have to, who think HR can change performance expectations.

HR isn't your friend, they never were but neither is anyone else in that joint. If you're going to go to them, you need to do some homework and approach them with the same level of professionalism you should be using in the rest of your work life. Do your due diligence.

And run up on HR expecting action that isn't in their power to take. Some of you know HR is on some shit (and they sometimes really are) and still run to them instead of the labor board or your industry's governing body, or following the reporting process in your handbook.

You know, I find this repeated conversation about HR really simplistic and quite frankly overblown and super obvious. Of course they aren't your friend. They also aren't the complaint department or your conflict resolution center.
