@PoptartLudwig His advice is always a little nonsensical but also 100% accurate.

The day after the @DrakeRelays is like the day after Christmas for Track & Field people.

@stljoshwright @stevemagness 💯 When I was a kid who was good at running, I could race and not break a sweat, but once I became an Endurance Athlete the instant I did activity for more than 5 seconds my body was like "Oh I know what's happening. Let's engage the cooling mechanism!" 💦
English

@stevemagness I was told by a coach when I was a teenager that the fitter you are, the more instinctively your body shifts into “it’s time for work“ mode, and that’s why you get the huff-and-puff response so quickly when you do something like climb some stairs.
English

Every runner knows the opposite truth:
The fitter you are, the more you question why going up stairs is so hard, when you are in peak mile or 5k shape.
A truism among runners I know: the fitter you are the more the stairs hurt, the more you avoid them.
Dan Go@CoachDanGo
A silent luxury is being able to walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded.

For a moment I thought they were introducing a cat version of the Beautiful Bulldog contest. Obviously, I need more coffee. 🥴

@bertiewilber @zeta_globin How do you define "elderly" because I'm preeeeetty sure you're describing someone I know but he's only like 41. 🫣
English

@Predamame Why is everyone so obsessed with the different races though? Some of us just run for fun and don't see races at all.
English

I don't think you should be limited to just marathons. 5ks and 10ks are fine.
Hell, you should even be allowed to consider 800s or miles.
Beardson@BeardsonBeardly
race mixing is not normal
English

@Predamame A well run marathon is more difficult to execute, but an all out 5k is more difficult in terms of convincing yourself that you're not *actually* going to die from this thing you're doing.
Both will have you questioning every decision you've made that lead you to this point.
English

A well-run marathon means your legs are screaming while walking around the next day.
A well-run 5k means the temptation to drop out crosses your mind at some point during the race.
Brady Holmer@Brady_H
An all-out effort 5k is harder than a well-run marathon. Change my mind.

@SaraHackbarth @DavidSchwending What a lucky girl she was to be loved so much. 🤍
English

We said goodbye to our beloved, sweet Annie girl. Dogs don't know time, just love. So, although we only had just over 2 years with her, all Annie knew until the end was our love. She was a gift and we feel so blessed that we got to love her. The joy she brought will last forever.
