Fred died yesterday, from complications of a recent surgery, supported by his family.
He was one of the giants on whose shoulders many of us rest!

Great 24 hours! Our group’s first grad student @RubyMLam defended her thesis in the Brown-NIH GPP yesterday & our gut paper led by @chio_servin in @ardemp lab where Ruby is 2nd author was just published in @CellCellPress. Huge congrats to Dr. Lam!!!

Your gut is in constant motion and these movements are sensed by neurons and regulate GI motility. We describe the role of sensory neuron PIEZO2 in regulating gut function in mice and in humans:
