I requesting support from the Memory Clinic when I was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s to guide me through the Rites of Passage. But no one was trained!
I've been helping mum remember who she is. I've finally finished her "This is my life book" before she goes into a home. It will help carers know who mum is & can be used to help mum when she needs prompting about her past. It's great for discussion. bonusprint.co.uk/view-online-ph…

Even when the weather is dull and damp accessing the outdoors improves mood, aids cognition and bone health. If there are steps in and out of the home, consider if these are in good condition and if they require a rail which may aid balance and confidence. #WithOTuCAN

I've encountered several people who don't want anyone 2know their loved one has any form of dementia b/c they're embarrassed--"What will ppl think?!" We need an atmosphere where people get the help they need; patients deserve dignity & respect. Families don't need to be ashamed.
