On this date back in 2016, what would become known as the Anderson Creek Fire started burning across parts of Barber County. This large grass fire burned over 400,000 acres. Dense smoke and ash made it as far east as Wichita. Additional info: weather.gov/ict/0323_grass… #kswx

@JaydonShawwx We use the COOP site for unofficial records in El Dorado. However, the COOP site also recorded a high of 97 which appears to not only be a daily record high, but also an all time record high for the month of March. Records (albeit somewhat incomplete) go back to 1893.

Record highs for March 21st were set across the region today, due to temperatures 30 to 35 degrees above average. These readings were also the warmest March temperatures on record for these sites (although Chanute tied). #kswx
