If I have one piece of advice for establishment figures in Westminster, it would be to just keep losing your shit completely at everything Hannah Spencer says. Maybe be really patronising too! You will look great, because normal people think Westminster is functioning really well

Yeah no, sorry, MPs are often cooped up in Parliament for 15 hours a day, they will have a drink with journalists or colleagues and will still be discussing politics -their job, as Hannah says. I don’t like the blanket demonisation of MPs and Hannah should know better after she had already been accused of not taking the job seriously because she took part in that dancing event in Portcullis house. It was unfair to call her unserious about that then and it is unfair of her to now suggest that MPs having a drink in between votes which take up all night is by default bad.

🚨Breaking news: MPs are human and sometimes have a drink.
Classic clickbait farming 👎
MPs work long days for constituents, and yes, sometimes share a drink in the evening with colleagues.
Last week I was scandalously spotted with… an alcohol-free pint or two between votes 😱
But sure, let’s talk about that instead of the Greens’ wacky policies.
Trying to distract us, maybe? 🙄

FT: Chelsea 1-0 Leeds
Chelsea have progressed from all seven FA Cup ties they have had against Leeds, reaching the final to face Manchester City on Saturday 16 May. It means the home match against Spurs will be rearranged.
However, they already became the first team to lose three FA Cup finals in a row when losing to Liverpool in 2021 and have lost their last six domestic cup finals. A hoodoo to overcome.

The failures of Lawrence Stewart and Paul Winstanley.
“Enzo Maresca told the club losing Levi Colwill before the season started that cover at centre half was essential. He was ignored. Chelsea have conceded as many goals as Nottingham Forest this season and six more than Crystal Palace.
And while much is blamed on the callow nature of the recruits, it is worth noting that Tosin Adarabioyo — who is nobody’s idea of a title-winning central defender — was taken on a free transfer from Fulham at the age of 26.
Another experienced recruit was the goalkeeper Robert Sánchez, brought in from Brighton & Hove Albion at 25, having already played 147 games. These were not good buys.
Nor cheap, many of them, either. One of the reasons few entertain the idea that Chelsea’s squad just needs time, is the cost. Where, for instance, is the equivalent of the brilliant Rayan Cherki, brought in from Lyon by Manchester City for roughly £31.6million? Jamie Gittens, Alejandro Garnacho, Estêvão, Pedro Neto, João Félix, Mykhailo Mudryk, all cost substantially more.”

@implausibleblog Imagine calling for the thing to change that you were in charge of and didn’t do. The level of revisionism is absolutely staggering, good to see proper journalistic challenge

🚘 Wesley Fofana has more points on his driving licence (50) than Chelsea do in the league (48). Add in the fact that the team’s on-the-pitch disciplinary problems followed them from Maresca to Rosenior and there is a clear pattern of underperformance and misbehaviour amongst the players.
