@OGDixk To me there was no play. The catcher waited until the batter backed out and then through the ball. It’s a coaches play to get an out. It worked.

This happened at a high school girl’s softball playoff game. The pitch was made and the batter stepped out of the batter’s box after swinging and missing. The catcher noticed she stepped out and fired the ball at her head. The umpire called an out on the field for batter’s interference determining the catcher was trying to pick off the runner at third base. The video clearly shows there was no play at third base and her throw is not towards the angle of third base. This is a move designed to pick up an out when needed. What do you think? Smart coaching to draw the batter’s interference call and end the inning stranding the runner at third base? Or, malicious, the catcher should have been ejected? What’s your take?
