Braden Mann and his wife had a daughter 6 days ago. He signed his new four-year contract today. Been a busy, rewarding week for Mann. "The end goal for me and my family was, we really wanted to be here," Mann said. He said the "commitment" from the Eagles was the best part of the contract — it demonstrated the way he thought about them.

The Eagles are signing TE Stone Smartt, per league source. (As @RapSheet reported.) Smartt, 27, spent last season with the Jets after three years with the Chargers. His best season came with the Chargers in 2024, when he had 16 catches (on 19 targets) for 208 yards. He had 7 catches for 52 yards last season. Smartt went to Old Dominion, where moved from QB to WR.

The Eagles signed RB Dameon Pierce to a one-year deal. Pierce, 26, rushed for 939 yards as a rookie with the Texans in 2022. His playing time has waned since then, but he's someone who has intrigued the Eagles before. He joins a backfield with Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley, and Carson Steele.

It's fair to point out that the Eagles have been opportunistic about adding QB3 in the past if they thought the value was present. They traded for Sam Howell last season with Tanner McKee on the roster. They traded for Gardner Minshew in 2021 with Joe Flacco on the roster. So one move does not always indicate another move is pending. But it gives them the option.

Andy Dalton, 38, is entering Year 16 in the NFL. He's under contract for $3.9M next season. ...And this obviously puts the Eagles in a position to trade Tanner McKee, if there's an offer they like.

Checked in with those familiar with Tanner McKee and any emerging trade market. I would not take today’s Andy Dalton trade as an immediate step in that direction.

GM Howie Roseman has an established history of stocking his QB depth. Tanner McKee has been QB2 and impressed in 2024 with late-season starts. If there happens to be a market for McKee, having Andy Dalton on the roster obviously gives them flexibility.
