ASUU went on strike in 1993, 1994, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2022.
In 2022, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (@officialABAT) promised that ASUU strikes will be a thing of the past and that Nigerian students will enjoy hitch-free academic sessions.
In 2025, Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa (@DrTunjiAlausa) noted that “the Federal Government has addressed every request made by ASUU.”
On 14th January 2026, The Federal Government and ASUU signed a landmark agreement on improved salaries and allowances which ended a 16 year impasse. Academics received a 40% increase in their salaries and allowances - a huge commitment for the education sector and a landmark success story.
Challenges such as infrastructural deficits, high numbers of out‑of‑school children, poor internet and digital divide between urban and rural schools, etc still exist. However, WE HAVE MADE PROGRESS!
PS: Students from humble backgrounds who are struggling to pay N125K for tuition turn to @NELFUND!

PRESS STATEMENT
In the last 24 hours, social media has exploded over my interview with Mehdi Hassan, albeit with varied opinions. Let me set the record straight.
When I signed on to the privileged job granted to me by Mr. President, I was well aware of its implications. Selling ice cream, looking fine, and seeking the praises of men were never part of it. Some of the fiercest critics of my interview can not even stand local TV anchors. But the task of promoting and defending the President and his administration is what I do with ease and joy. I am prepared to appear before any interviewer, anywhere in the world, any day and at any time, to defend this government and its policies.
I have never, and will never, subscribe to ducking or dodging interviews on matters that concern promoting and defending the administration I was appointed to serve. It is the least of what is required of me.
Head to Head contacted me requesting an interview, stating that they wanted to challenge our government on security, the economy, and corruption. Nowhere in our almost six months of communication did they mention that they were going to challenge my past. If that had been their plan, ethically and professionally, they were supposed to inform me so I could prepare my response. But that’s okay, ethically, that is on them, not on me.
I refused to swallow the pill of Mehdi’s “opposition research-style journalism,” and even today, if you carefully compare what he read as quotes from organisations and groups, you will see that many were inaccurate and some were outright fake news. But I will leave that for another day.
As for what I said about President Tinubu in the past, I am glad those were things I said when I was in the opposition saddle with such zeal. It is all politics. Half of Donald Trump’s cabinet is made up of people who once spoke against him, and quite a number of people in our own cabinet also spoke against President Tinubu in the past. Those things do not bother him if you care to know.
The majority of the naysayers are members of the opposition and their sympathisers. It does not bother me one bit. Their temporary excitement over the interview has not lasted and will not last, because it does not take away their obvious problem of lack of vision, mission in conducting and managing a political party; yet they seek to manage Nigeria. Clearly they have no path to victory and no alternative policies or program for the Nigerian people. And if they say they do, they can as well go to head to head and be interrogated on that; as the saying in Hausa goes “Ga fili Ga doki”
I conclude by thanking the many Nigerians and non-Nigerians who sent in their commendations over my brave defence of our government in an interview where the anchor would hardly let you answer a question unless it suited his narrative.
I still have admiration and respect for Mehdi Hassan as arguably the best debater on the planet. I look forward to part two of the Head to Head interview, and I am glad that by then questions about my past will no longer be news so that we can focus on our administration’s policies, programs and what we have achieved so far.
Stay tuned.

STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE
PRESIDENT TINUBU TO THE ARMED FORCES: TOGETHER WE SHALL PREVAIL, YOUR SACRIFICE WILL NOT BE IN VAIN
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday assured Nigerians and members of the Armed Forces that the nation will ultimately prevail against all forms of insecurity, emphasising that the sacrifices of the country’s brave servicemen and women will never be in vain.
President Tinubu gave the assurances during an interfaith breaking of fast with members of the Armed Forces at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of officers and men on the frontlines.
“ I have listened to the Chief of Army Staff on my recent approvals to the Nigerian Armed Forces. My duty is to thank all of you on behalf of a grateful nation, knowing fully well that many times you are without your families and that you stay away from them. Some of you are facing attacks by bandits and terrorists.
“ I commend your courage, sacrifice, and professionalism as you put your lives on the line in defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty and the safety of its citizens”.
He noted that the gallant efforts of the security forces have continued to degrade the capabilities of terrorist groups and bandits operating in various parts of the country.
“You have been working to serve the country deeply and protect our sovereignty. This nation will always be grateful to you, and your sacrifices will not be in vain, I assure you.“
He assured them of continued investment in modern equipment, intelligence, and logistics to enhance their operational effectiveness.
The President thanked Nigerians for their endurance during the economic reengineering.
`` I am happy to inform you that your sacrifices and that of fellow citizens, all the sacrifices are not in vain. We are now out of the dark tunnel,” the President said.
President Tinubu also used the opportunity to extend his heartfelt sympathy to the government and people of Borno State over the recent terrorist attack in the state.
Earlier, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Oluwafemi Oluyode, represented by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, commended the President for various approvals which had enhanced their welfare and operational efficiency.
“I want to appreciate the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces for the auspicious opportunity of marking the breaking of fast for both faiths. This unique period offers us the opportunity to renew our service and our commitments to our fatherland.
“I want to most sincerely thank our indefatigable President for the various approvals for the upward review of salaries of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, as well as the upward review of allowances of the Brigade of Guards.
“These various approvals also extend to the areas of equipment procurement as well as the provision of decent accommodations for the members of the armed forces. These laudable approvals will go a long way in enhancing our operational efficiency, and I assure you that they are well-received by all members of the armed forces,” the CDS said.

I have just registered Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a member of the ADC on their portal with made up NIN, Phone number and Address.
ADC is a very very useless party.
No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by this video.
@Imammaleek0 Nobody is supporting anyone. The regime is too brutal on its people. Y on earth a government opened fire and killed over 3k plus of its citizens because they called for change. After all the same regime did revolution to get to power in 1979. Someone must send them away too
@aonanuga1956 All bcs the person next to him is Igbo. Where is Cubana chief priest.. He hates IGBO but he still needs their vote, hence he is using the greedy ones among them to do his dirty work. Igbo will get it right the day they stop working against themselves.
STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE
PRESIDENT TINUBU RENEWS THE TENURE OF ABUBAKAR AUDI AS COMMANDANT-GENERAL OF NSCDC
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reappointed Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi as the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for a new five-year term. The reappointment took effect from Friday, February 27.
Dr Audi was first appointed to the position in 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari. His initial five-year term ended last Friday as he participated in activities commemorating the 2026 World Civil Defence Day at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja.
He will resume his duties on Monday with a renewed mandate.
President Tinubu charged Audi to reposition the service to play a more significant role in the country's security, especially as the police refocus on their primary responsibility of protecting citizens from bandits, kidnappers, and terrorists.
Dr Audi was born on September 30, 1967, in Laminga Town, Nasarawa LGA, Nasarawa State. After his early education in the state, he attended Teachers’ College in Jengre, Plateau State, where he obtained a Teachers’ Grade II Certificate in 1987.
He further attended the College of Education, Akwanga, earning the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in 1992. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, he went to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education in 1995.
In 2001, he earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Calabar. He obtained a PhD in Public Administration from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, in 2014, and a Master’s in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice (MLCJ) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 2019.
Dr Audi joined the NSCDC in November 1996 as a volunteer and was deployed as a Divisional Officer in Obi Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, after completing his basic officer training in 1997.
He served in various state commands and, in 2007, was promoted to the rank of Commandant of the Corps and subsequently deployed to the office of the Commandant-General at the National Headquarters in Abuja.

@OSAS4l They are on their own. I would rather stay at home than vote for any other person aside from Obi. He is the reason we look away from their sins, bcs all of them in ADC except Obi contributed to this mess in Nigeria
@ARISEtv Trusting him at ur own risk. He went to see Tinubu to collect his own shares of the money . He will work for him in PDP after all PDP does not have a presidential candidate. Baba went to re negotiate
Bala Mohammed: I Am Not Feeling Lonely in the PDP
The APC will need to watch their backs after the primaries, as they are growing larger, much like the PDP. The PDP expanded and ultimately exploded, not imploded. I do not feel lonely because I understand my state, and my intention is to stay back and observe how elections are won at the polling booth. Elections are won locally, not nationally.
Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State
@NigeriaStories He too wants to cash out. The discussion will be "don't decamp openly but work for me behind close door, I will give u the same money I gave those the defect openly" Useless politicians from top to bottom
@osazenoo Is Nigeria not burning already. Idiot. Even Seyi law came out to apologize openly when is eyes were open to reality on ground vis a vis the attitude of the government he supported. Very soon all of u will see it clearly that these politicians only care about their children alone.
@CrownprinceCom2 The reason y ADC still has this little life was bcs of Obi. Filling Amech means ADC too is working for Tinubu. Oyegun and the rest might be a Mohole in ADC. I would rather stay at home than going out to vote for Amechi
John Odigie-Oyegun said: We, the South-South leaders of the ADC, have unanimously resolved to throw our full support behind Rotimi Amaechi for the party’s presidential ticket. I still don't why they fail to see the quality in Peter Obi..
