Bro the amount of shit I build now is insane. In the past, it will take 24 hours to build a training pipeline for a specific type of model...it always felt like a chore because I know how I want it to be structured, but had to chug out the code. Now Claude does it in 5 mins.

@Emarl_bee Global impact from research has to inevitably run through the government, but how willing are they to adopt these technologies.

One of the flaws in the way we recount stories of innovation is that we unfairly single out individuals, ignoring the contributions of lesser mortals.

The main theme of human history is that we become steadily more specialized in what we produce, and steadily more diversified in what we consume.

AI can generate novel outputs, but it lacks grounded semantic understanding and intentionality, so its outputs are recombinations of patterns rather than creativity in the human cognitive sense

@Emarl_bee Choosing to slow down and work through fundamentals almost feels out of sync but it’s the only way to actually understand what’s underneath the tools.

@Emarl_bee The pace at which tools are shipped rapidly almost forces one into just consuming what’s released instead of building anything worthy yourself.

IMO it is so hard to learn something entirely new as deeply as you would in a PhD. There’s really not many other environments that select for that. I miss when I’d spend hours proving every single line of a textbook or paper to myself—it HAD to make sense fully to me.

I'm working on idea and I came across an interview with a (y-combinator) founder whose product is almost exactly similar as I have always envisioned, but mine has a lot more crazier components...she shut it down, her biggest competitor then also failed at it..I'll still do it.
