Sen. Susan Collins
Sen. Susan Collins@SenatorCollins·
Passage of the Department of Homeland Security funding package brings us closer to ending the reckless and harmful shutdown of DHS that Democrats triggered when they walked away from the bipartisan funding bill for the Department. That original bill contained new safeguards and oversight to protect the American public and our law enforcement, including additional funding for body-worn cameras and deescalation training. Over the past five weeks, Republicans have made repeated attempts to reach bipartisan consensus to reopen the Department. Republicans offered proposals to expand the use of body-worn cameras; limit civil immigration enforcement in sensitive areas such as schools and hospitals; increase oversight of detention facilities; and implement visible officer identification. While Republicans worked in good faith to try to reach agreement, Democrats remained intransigent and unreasonable with their list of demands. Congressional Democrats have done real damage to the appropriations process by repeatedly forcing government shutdowns and refusing to fund entire agencies. Their refusal to fund ICE and Border Patrol leaves our borders and our country less secure and sets a precedent that they may one day come to regret. Today’s action moves us closer to ending the disastrous shutdown at the Department, which has caused chaos at our airports, made us more vulnerable to cyber and terrorist attacks, delayed disaster response to communities in need, and caused thousands of hardworking federal employees to report to work with no guarantee of when they will be paid. Moving forward, I remain committed to ensuring adequate funding to secure our borders.

Newsflash: Getting your opinion on each & every topic from social media is just as bad as getting everything you believe from the big, rectangular screen in your living room. Dig into topics and form your own opinions.

Leaving the SAVE America Act at the mercy of reconciliation is failure theater. I didn't come to DC to engage in failure theater. Nobody elected a Republican trifecta for more failure theater. We came to deliver results— and securing our elections should be the bare minimum.

@SecRollins @POTUS Why don't you shove this. The American farmer absolutely despises Donald Trump (and you) for selling them out to Brazil, Tyson, and anyone else who would pat you on the head like a good puppy dog.

@SecRollins @USDA @WhiteHouse Are these the ones you brought in from Brazil or Venezuela? You and your buddies at Tyson are purposely & quickly driving American producers out of the market in favor of large, corporate "farms."

Mrs.Reitenour has no obligation to engage with opinion-based media endorsing other candidates or spreading false info (BELOW -campaign could not attend). Lack of access does not justify misrepresentation. The campaign remains open to credible media and Hoosiers seeking facts.

@AGToddRokita The posts in this thread, trying to somehow defend Allen, are testament to the mental illness that has so infested our society. Allen couldn't be more obviously guilty but the depressed, mentally unbalanced want to be a part of something, anything, that goes against the grain.

@AGToddRokita Richard Allen confessed to a minimum of 9 people that he was guilty. He even told them details that no one but the killer could have known. When.....when do we quit all of this coddling nonsense?

Today, our Appeals team filed a brief firmly defending Richard Allen’s convictions for the brutal murders of two young Hoosier girls.  We are fighting to uphold justice for Abby and Libby, standing with their families and every Hoosier who demands accountability and closure for this horrific crime.

x.com/Indy_reporter_… Join me in checking out the "progress" of West Washington construction in preparation of the Blue Line. It is currently down to one lane past Belmont. No shocker they had a small crew of 4 people. Before you ask. Yes, 3 of them were just looking at a hole. Again, Indy is run by dopes that give contracts to construction companies that have ZERO urgency. BTW, this yesterday around 2pm.
indy reporter@Indy_reporter_

Stopped by Fountain Square to see the "progress". There were maybe 7 people total working on the project. 4 of them were staring down a hole like they were lost in a trance. Another reason why projects take 2x or 3x time longer than they should. There is ZERO urgency to get this project completed.

@RepSpartz It is so much more than $200B. Nearly all of it is condoned by members of Congress who receive millions in kickbacks to keep it from being exposed.

Today, the Joint Economic Committee held a hearing on protecting Americans from fraudsters — over $200B is stolen annually through sophisticated scams. Watch panel discussions on the urgent need to designate an agency to coordinate these efforts and pass legislative reforms.

@jimstinson @Indy_reporter_ If you don't understand the difference between 2018 and 2026, perhaps you should just sit quietly and learn from the adults..... Being associated with Trump will be a disaster for any GOP candidate, local, state, or federal.

x.com/davebangert/st… Trump is blindly endorsing any Indiana Legislator that voted yes on redistricting. I've been saying this since last year. A Trump endorsement doesn't have the same weight as it did 5 years ago. A Trump endorsement has become a Sagamore of the Wabash Award.
Dave Bangert@davebangert

In a new round of endorsements in Indiana Senate primaries, powered by where candidates landed on a failed redistricting plan, President Donald Trump backs state Sen. Ron Alting, a Lafayette Republican in Senate District 22. Alting faces Richard Bagsby in the May 5 primary.

On Tuesday, utilities defended their rate increases in front of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. I want to strongly praise Chairman Zay and the entire Commission for taking a hard stand and demanding real accountability. They asked the tough questions and made it clear that automatic pass-throughs and unchecked hikes are no longer acceptable. Residential electric rates have climbed 28.9% since 2014 — far outpacing inflation and our peer states. Hoosier families have had enough. I will personally review the results of Tuesday’s hearing and the full listening sessions to identify every additional way we can deliver real relief to ratepayers. With HEA 1002 now law, we have the tools to make it happen, and these sessions will ensure the voices of the people paying the bills come first.

It is beyond sad how much of a disaster the 2nd Trump term has been. What we've preached here from 2016 could not be more true: Trump's only real concern is....Trump. His ego, his insatiable need for praise, has destroyed his presidency & the future of America along with it.
