Last night, we learned that three wildland firefighters—serving with the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Wildland Fire Service—lost their lives on Saturday, June 27, while responding jointly to the Knowles and Gore fires along the Colorado‑Utah border. Additionally, two wildland firefighters were injured in the line of duty and have been transported to a hospital. This is terrible news and a reminder of what our first responders risk every time they go out to prevent devastation and protect Americans from natural disasters. Our immediate focus is on supporting their families, friends, and fellow crewmates during this incredibly difficult time. The USDA and @SecDBurgum’s Interior family mourns with them and offers our unwavering support for the loved ones left behind. We are continuing to pray for their families and loved ones. May God bring them peace during this time. Their bravery, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Additional details will be shared as they become available.

New World Screwworm Rapid Response
🏭Today marks a major milestone in the fight against New World screwworm. As part of our 5-point action plan, we began construction of a massive 22,000-square foot sterile fly production facility in Metapa, Mexico just 11 months ago. Today, that facility is officially open. This will add an additional 100 M flies when the facility is fully operational. The more sterile flies we produce and deploy, the faster we can suppress and ultimately eradicate this devastating pest.

New World Screwworm Rapid Response
🤝 Defeating New World screwworm requires strong partnerships. Today, @SecRollins joined President @Claudiashein, @USAmbMex, and our partners in Mexico to celebrate the opening of the new sterile fly production facility. They also discussed rapidly integrating the NOVO fly into production to further expand our response. Thanks to @SecRubio, @StateDept, and @USAmbMex for announcing an additional $84 million to expand sterile fly production. Working alongside our partners in Mexico and Panama, @SecRollins has led the largest New World screwworm response effort in decades—investing $1.3 billion, expanding the NWS workforce by 1,000%, and strengthening international cooperation to protect America’s livestock industry. We’ve beaten New World screwworm before—and together, we’ll do it again. 🇺🇸

New World Screwworm Rapid Response
🚨 NWS UPDATE 🚨 One year ago, we launched a bold 5-point action plan to defeat New World screwworm and protect America’s ranchers. 🪰 Once considered fully eradicated from the United States (since 1966), NWS breached the Darién Gap in 2022, spread through Central America in 2023, and made its way into Mexico during 2024. All models showed it reaching the U.S. by Summer 2025. By closing the ports and surging USDA personnel, insect trapping and surveillance in Mexico, we bought valuable time to prepare, build, contain, and strengthen partnerships. 🇺🇸

🚨𝐍𝐖𝐒 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 🚨 On June 18th of last year, our Trump USDA launched a bold 5-point action plan to defeat New World screwworm and protect our great American ranchers.  🪰 Once considered fully eradicated from the United States (since 1966), the NWS breached the Darien Gap in 2021, through Central America in 2022, and made its way northward and into Mexico through 2023 and 2024. All models showed it reaching the US by Summer 2025. 🏭 We were able to hold it off for a full year by closing the ports and surging USDA staff into Mexico, which allowed us to prepare, build, contain and partner. As part of that 5-point plan, eleven months ago, @USDA began building a Massive 22,000 square ft facility in Metapa, Mx to significantly add to our total sterile fly capabilities. 📈 Today represents a major milestone in that fight with the OFFICIAL OPENING of that facility. Within 8 weeks, we should have 30 million flies, in 12 weeks - 50 million flies, and by this Fall an additional 100 million flies to deploy. I was honored to join President @Claudiashein and @USAmbMex at the opening earlier today, alongside other key members of her administration. We toured the beautiful new facility (who knew a sterile fly facility could mean so much), met the incredible USDA team on the ground that made it happen in record time, and discussed the importance of integrating the new NOVO fly into production as soon as possible. Of course that will double our 100 million weekly sterile flies within months. All really good news. Special thanks to @SecRubio , @StateDept and @USAmbMex who also today announced an additional $84 million in funding to expand fly production even more for our American producers. The cross government collaboration of the Trump administration is truly unprecedented. 🤝🇺🇸 So far we've invested $1.3 billion, expanded our New World Screwworm workforce by 1,000%, and launched the largest response effort in decades. We've beaten New World Screwworm before through strong cooperation—and together, we'll do it again.

It was a true honor to recognize a remarkable group of American families whose farms have remained in continuous family ownership for more than 250 years—families who have worked, stewarded, tilled, protected, and loved their land for generations. A special shoutout to my incredible friend @monicacrowley, who was so inspired by the 250+ year legacy of one of her favorite New York farms that she brought me this idea last year. God bless you, Monica, for understanding the importance of honoring these extraordinary 10th, 11th, and 12th generation farming families and helping make this celebration possible. From Maryland to Massachusetts, Long Island to North Carolina, these families have fed our nation, clothed our people, and preserved the values that make America exceptional—faith, hard work, stewardship, service, and love of neighbor. Congratulations to these incredible families, and thank you for helping tell the story of America’s first 250 years. May God continue to bless your farms, your families, and the greatest country on Earth. 🇺🇸🌾 @Freedom250 @NASDAnews

Does this fly look like a New World screwworm (NWS) fly? Well… it is but it’s a sterile one, released as part of ongoing eradication efforts. Sterile flies glow under blacklight but aren’t easy to see. INSTEAD, check animals for wounds or maggots and report concerns early!

One of my favorite parts of the Great American State Fair has been spending time with the young people who will shape the future of American agriculture. It was an honor to join @EDSecMcMahon in meeting FFA and 4-H students participating in the livestock showcase at the Great American State Fair earlier today. These students represent the very best of America—hard work, leadership, service, and a love for the land. As we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday, there's no better reminder that the future of American agriculture remains bright!

ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BREAKFAST 🇺🇸🦅 America’s founders understood a timeless truth: a strong nation begins with strong farms. This morning, I was honored to welcome Cabinet colleagues, Members of Congress, agricultural leaders, and friends from across rural America to USDA for our One Big Beautiful Breakfast. Under @POTUS, we’ve delivered: ✅ Historic tax relief for family farms through President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts ✅ Higher reference prices and stronger crop insurance ✅ 19 new trade deals and frameworks expanding markets for American agriculture ✅ Lowering input costs and strengthening America’s fertilizer supply ✅ The National Farm Security Action Plan to protect our farmland and food supply ✅ Nearly 1,000 SNAP fraud arrests to restore integrity to our nutrition programs ✅ MAHA victories that put American farmers at the center of healthier food ✅ Historic investments in active forest management and wildfire preparedness America’s farmers don’t just feed, fuel, and clothe our nation—they help secure its future. Together, we’ll keep fighting to ensure the next 250 years of American agriculture are even stronger than the last. @SecretaryBurgum @SecretaryTurner @EDSecMcMahon @SBA_Kelly @USGSA_Ed @DAGToddBlanche @Sonderling47 @IAGovernor @TeamPillen @OklahomaAg @AgCommHarperGA @TNAgriculture

On the heels of @POTUS signing an Executive Order to advance regenerative agriculture, @SecRollins announced a final Regenerative Feedstock Rule that will help farmers voluntarily capture new value from regenerative agricultural practices through biofuel markets. The Regenerative Feedstock Rule establishes a framework to connect regenerative agriculture practices to new markets within the biofuel supply chain for corn, soybeans, sorghum, and spring canola. President Trump's Executive Order and USDA’s Regenerative Feedstock Rule provide the next critical step by ensuring producers have a practical pathway to benefit from those expanding markets. 🔗 usda.gov/about-usda/new…

This morning, I signed an MOU to expand and launch the American Family Farm Legacy 250 Program in partnership with @NASDAnews and state agriculture leaders from across the country. More to come with @MonicaCrowley this afternoon — we can’t wait to celebrate! For nearly 250 years, America’s farm families have done more than grow our food. They’ve built communities. They’ve preserved traditions. They’ve passed down faith, freedom, and hard work from one generation to the next. This program recognizes extraordinary families whose farms have remained in continuous operation for generations. Some have farmed the same land for 100 years. Some for 200. A remarkable few for more than 250 years. America would not be America without them. As we celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday, it’s only fitting that we celebrate the families who helped build it — and who will help carry it into the next 250 years. @Freedom250 @AgCommHarperGA @USDA

When 44 delegates of the Second Continental Congress—including many farmers—approved the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, they changed the course of history forever. 🇺🇸 Their courage, conviction, and love of country gave birth to the greatest nation the world has ever known. As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, we honor their legacy and recommit ourselves to preserving it for generations to come.
