The weather is terrible…👀 If you’re working, and driving to emergencies, please slow down. ✅ Use your blues and twos and get there safely. 🚨 Remember: ‘No call is so urgent as to justify a collision.’ 🤷🏼‍♂️ ‘Arrive Alive’ and go home in one piece, please. #ThinBlueLine 🫡🚨

There is no confirmed intelligence of any planned unlawful activity over the coming days, but local agencies are working together to ensure we remain vigilant and prepared after large-scale disorder elsewhere in the country. We are confident in our ability to respond. 1/3

There are no ‘extra Officers.’ 🤦🏼‍♂️ We are in a recruitment and retention crisis. 👀 These are Cops who are having rest days and annual leave cancelled. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Same number of Cops edging closer to burn out and leaving. 😔 That’s the reality of it all…🤔 The very #ThinBlueLine 🚨

More than 1 in 5 police officers are considering resigning, with a staggering 78% citing poor government treatment as the primary factor. New #PayandMorale Survey findings illustrate how unfair pay is pushing devalued officers towards resignation. #FairPayForPolice 🧵(1/6)

I personally find these comments really interesting. They are predominantly based on opinion rather than fact and stem from an original dislike of policing for whatever reason that grows into a mostly unfair belief of incompetence. I like to think we can change opinions by sharing information and procedures. So, ok, you’re a police response unit and you’re called to reports of an attack involving a corrosive substance: Our first actions on scene are always as a priority to preserve life. Now we know in retrospect that the police officers first on scene provided emergency life support to the victims and were also affected by the substance themselves. Heroic work, and I won’t hear otherwise. With the victims being injured, asking them for a description can be truly challenging as they may be in agony unable to think or recall or worse struggling to breathe. London by its very nature is a complicated place to police. As soon as a description is available it will have been circulated and shared with our partner police forces in London. A reminder here that there are four police forces in London: @metpoliceuk @CityPolice @MODPolice @BTP But this can take time and whilst we’d like a police officer to be on every street corner listening out for a suspect description, they aren’t and if they were, they would most likely have been deployed to an outstanding call. Also trains stations and the public transport network are policed by @BTP and their numbers are far, far fewer than those in the Metropolis so there may not have been any police officers at that station at that time. Even just these few factors combined can make apprehending a suspect immediately challenging. But ok let’s go further *WHAT ABOUT THE MASSIVE EYE INJURY* - again this comes down to what the victim can tell us at the time. We always do our best to get the best evidence as quickly as possible but we can only go on what we are given when it can be given. And whilst we’d love every police officer in London to be looking for this one person, by this time in the evening we have already reached thousands of 999 calls to respond to across London many of which will still be outstanding. We truly do our best in every situation to apprehend suspects immediately. I’d like send my best wishes again to everyone caught up in this cowardly attack, including my colleagues who I hope are making a full recovery. This was a horrific incident and has made every Cop I know motivated to do one thing; find the suspect and arrest him. And like everyone, I hope it’s done as quickly as possible. #ThinBlueLine 🚨

Well had to say goodbye to PC Harry Small, who completed his last night shift with West Mercia Police, patrol team E Bridgnorth, Ludlow. He leaves on promotion to Staffordshire. A huge loss to the force, team and definitely Staffordshire Police’s gain. 👮‍♀️

@Walshie1387 @AnonPC4 Imagine your prisoner swallows a load of drugs in the holding cell and you have to explain that you were ‘managing time’ by doing paperwork while you should be watching your prisoner. Doesn’t work like that I’m afraid

@AnonPC4 Whilst waiting to book your prisoner in you could have used that time to sort your paperwork - create crime report, prepare basic shoplifting MG11 which should be a proforma, create basic MG5 etc. I appriciate your workload (i did the job for 28yrs) but time management is key.

I find it can be hard to understand why when we lose one of us, it affects all of us. I guess, it’s because we all have moments at work where we wonder if our time’s up. You don’t come into work thinking you’re about to do your last of everything. That’s why. #ThinBlueLine🚨
