@TheMikeSalk There was a lot of boosterism at play, too. It’s not unreasonable to think that GMs inquired about Russell because they were following up on chatter in the media. A lot of guessing and wishful thinking happening on ESPN specifically. The analysis was often light on sourcing.

It's funny, the national folks had a much better read on the Russ situation than the local folks. Because of their perspective and who they talk to. But they don't watch the games as closely so they don't understand the Bobby move. You had to watch to get it.
