@LittleNinjaUK The Royal National Insitute for the Blind has already objected to cycle routes being between bus stops and roads and I have objected on behalf of Oxtalk (Oxford & District Talking News) but ignored. I’ve alteady aware of a cyclist knocking over someone getting off a bus)

The low cost equitable solution. The pavement space taken for cycle lanes should instead be used to widen bus lanes. Pedestrians would have access to & from the bus stop without crossing cycle routes and cyclists can safely pass buses at bus stops.
E-bikes on roads not pavements!

.@Keir_Starmer Routing cycle lanes on & through the pavement at bus stops breaches BS8300-1:2018 ‘Design of an Accessible & Inclusive Built Environment’ Section 6.2.2 on Bus Stops which states ‘pedestrians should have access to & from the bus stop without crossing cycle routes’.

@tonybrett It’s a pity the lib - dems avoided mentioning their traffic policies but did say they would stop the Thames Water debacle for which they have no control at county level.

@ReconnectingOx @rail_guns Depends on whether they think they’ll get re-elected or not. Principles are not considered!
English

Apparently, Oxford City Labour councillors are now opposed to expanding Oxford's zero emmision zone - despite @rail_guns fronting up a city report endorsing it.
So will their county colleagues be voting against spending £3.8m developing the scheme at next week's budget meeting?

Oxford, England 🇬🇧 English

@ReconnectingOx @eastoxbusiness The council is being led by councillors who are trying to get emissions down to zero without acknowledging the implications or cost; the law of diminishing returns! Is applicable.
English

Oxford City Council is talking shite when it claims - in its draft air quality action plan - that extending the zero emmision zone to cover the city centre "should significantly reduce air pollution".
There's little pollution left - and half of that remains comes from buildings.

Reconnecting Oxford@ReconnectingOx
Oxford City Council recently voted not to publish a report of pollution levels inside the planned zero emission zone (ZEZ) expansion area. So we are. The council has mostly met its "20 by 30" target- without a ZEZ expansion. Most remaining pollution hot spots are bus stands.
English

@ReconnectingOx Not a good advert for the pro cycling lobbies in Oxford where the council’s traffic policies are crucifying some businesses that didn’t get any support or subsidies from either the council or the government.
English

@jonsopel He would be in court if he was treated simply as a member of the public , never mind being ‘asked’ to resign.
English

It is frankly staggering that Craig Guildford has not resigned.
He told MPs the Jewish community had been consulted and approved the decision.
They hadn’t been and didn’t.
He said they relied on intel from Dutch police.
The Dutch contradicted that
And he told MPs the force hadn’t used AI.
They had.
How can you have trust in a Chief Constable - a Chief Constable for goodness sake - who seems to struggle with the truth? Someone who repeatedly misled parliament.
This looks like a classic case from the darker days of policing of reaching a judgement first and then massaging/cooking/inventing the evidence to justify it.
It is shameless
