WWE 2K26 Gameplay Designer Cornell Gunter comments on including CM Punk's indie look and Miseria Cantare entrance theme in the game: "I think one of the coolest things about like the retro Punk was like being able to bring in his theme that he used on the independent circuit, which was definitely something that we felt was a very, very must have for our community because we know how much they love wrestling, but we also know how much a lot of our communities grew up watching that version of Punk be able to evolve into what he is today. I understand these arguments, but I feel like a lot of people forget that these were made by a completely different developer and that the reason we got 2K 20 is because visual concepts didn’t know what to do with the code given to them and they obviously still don’t so comparing what we have now to an old lineage of people that weren’t the original creators of that code. I feel it kind of redundant like yes we want these things back, but acting like visual concepts were the people that brought these things to us doesn’t make sense.
