The choice in May is simple: a third decade of the SNP with John Swinney or change with Anas Sarwar as First Minister. I’m looking forward to seeing Anas’s drive and energy on fully display over the next 4 months, set against John Swinney’s leadership that has lost all steam.

Clearly, Angela Constance should have resigned. Under the SNP, the boundaries of acceptable behaviour now appear to be set by what ministers can get away with, rather than by what is required to maintain public confidence. But this was never primarily about Angela Constance’s ministerial career. The real issue is the urgent need to secure justice for Scottish victims of child sexual abuse and exploitation. That fight must, and will, continue.

A friend of mine waited 3 hours for an ambulance and then 33 hours on a trolley at Ayr Hospital last week before being allocated a bed. The First Minister’s claim that the SNHS has turned a corner is rubbish. Scotland’s hospitals are in deep crisis and need urgent action NOW.
