@BramaAlessandro Fwiw Bluesky has gone absolutely crazy in the last few days with mass migrations there. With v. Little effort I’ve already 650 plus followers in just a few days.
Just in case you’re tempted!

@ProfKateLoder I am really sorry to lose touch with you: we share a great curiosity for the works of female composers and you have given me some really good information about them. I hope I have been of help to you in turn and I wish you the best of luck. ❤️

@BramaAlessandro Thank you so much for this lovely message. I was about to write to you! Yes, have learned a huge amount from you and always look forward to your tweets.

@ProfKateLoder Every time I think to myself, “Are we past the point of needing to share these stories anymore?” the world finds a way of reminding me Yes We Still Do.

A joy to spend this w’end in Frankfurt working on choral works by Irish female composers. Bravo to Roisin Maher Kilkelly of @FindingA_Voice_ ., @archivfraumusik - housing 30,000 works - to @culture_ireland and Irish Consulate. Special to have composer Laura Sheils with us.

Tomorrow I’m debuting with the national orchestra of my country, and playing Tailleferre (!) - dream come true doesn’t quite cover it #tailleferre

Professional photography became a viable career for mid 19th century women. The 1861 census shows 25 yr old Mary Ann Venables worked with her sister Sophia (19) and Letitia (15) at their studio in Folkestone, previously advertised as Miss Venables' Photographic Establishment. 1/2

A joy and a pleasure to work with these fine young musicians on such diverse repertoire!

Great to hear 25 members of The Rodolfus Choir in rehearsal this morning in central London, beginning the day with wonderful music by Imogen Holst under the direction of Amy Bebbington @amybebbs1 @rodolfusfound

@corbcello @MusicOfLee Well yes, I do admit that the dark, sweet plangency of the cello is perfect for this work 😊.
English

@MusicOfLee Amy Beach's piano version of her Op. 15 (1892) followed by her cello-piano arrangement of the same work. (Hint: they're both great - though the cello one might make you weep, as opposed to only feeling kinda tender): 😊❤️🩹

I’ve been looking into Theresa Beney. Like many UK women composers I’ve found, she proudly recorded herself as a ‘composer’ in the census (which shows she was living with a married man in 1901). Do you know of her @NaomiPaxton? she played for the Actresses’ Franchise League.😀

Apparently pianist & musicologist, Alma Haas, took up post as head of music at King’s College London in 1886!!
I think this predated the actual dept of music, so I’m assuming the position was more akin to ‘director of music’ [Yes, @KingsCollegeLon ?] In any case… 1/2
