@BWoostersauce Yes, however, while music needs a structure to be beautiful and inspiring it doesn’t follow formulas. I think of Bach and other composers in his lineage such as Mozart, Beethoven most notably. Sort of a lawful yet free kind of thing.

Music is math. Math is music. Some of the best composers were exceptionally analytical in their approach and set down many of the composition tropes we still enjoy today.
On proportions and ratios: When you divide stringed instruments by integer lengths, you get a variety of harmonics. They delight us with their sounds. Dissonant chords are less memorable and many of the avant garde pieces of the 20th century have not survived the test of time.

What’s something profound that constantly amazes you?
For me, it’s that not only do planetary motions mirror musical harmonies and geometric proportions, but this is baked into our soul to naturally recognize those as consonant sounds.
