@I__HATE_SOCCER If it was a lie, why does he close off his Twitter and not just make a lasting statement people can refer to showing they’re wrong?? It’s almost like he’s guilty and regrets it?

The 2 meter Zhenyuanlong was a dromaeosaur, aka a raptor. The beautifully preserved fossil includes the feathers, including the wings. Fun fact: this animal has some of the shortest arms of any raptor!

@Relentiless @disrupthehuman a Triceratops looks completely different from a Velociraptor and they’re both still dinosaurs. and birds aren’t even that far down the family tree from Velociraptor

@Mahajangasuchus @raftingzalmoxes also the fact that literally 2 segments later we see Hatzegopteryx, the biggest and most horrifying Pterosaur ever, probably should’ve clued them in that the show wasn’t communicating that birds outcompeted Pterosaurs

@raftingzalmoxes Reddit users: Oh noes! The flock of Longipteryx defends their nests from Guidraco! That means the documentary is pushing the outdated "birds outcompeted pterosaurs" rhetoric!!! (Even though nothing even suggests that)

Despite still talking about interspecies competition and often demonstrating it through creature fights, #TheDinosaurs is never really 'seriously' bent upon something like the 'dynasties rhetoric' like #LifeOnOurPlanet , and it does not attach a lot of symbolism to its sequences.

@netflix Highly doubt these enormous flying dinosaurs landed to hunt - they'd never get up in the air again. Probably cliff dwellers & took prey on the wing.

@kingslim445 The opening scene is a Pachycephalosaurus making its way through a dinosaur herd with the kind of free-moving dynamic camera you'd see in something like the Jurassic World raptor motorcycle scene and not in something that'd try to emulate a nature documentary

I'm only one episode into The Dinosaurs, but it's interesting to compare this with PP and WWD because despite the narration, this is NOT a documentary. This is a cinematic drama with impossible camera movements, theatrical lighting and staged encounters. YMMV if you want that.

I decided not to do a full new reconstruction at this time, but here is a quick and crude size comparison of the new specimens to an adult Brachiosaurus and Diplodocus hallorum for some perspective.

So a recent paper has confirmed that Araucaria delevoryasii (described from vegetation, seed & pollen cones) and Agathoxylon hoodii (petrified logs) from the Morrison Formation are the same plant. Here is my reconstruction done for Prehistoric Kingdom. Brief thread to follow.

If you saw the Mamenchisaurus in Netflix's #TheDinosaurs and thought "Wow that thing's neck is ridiculous" then I promise you it's even more ridiculous when you see its proportions in full view. It's 60% neck. We have most of its bones too so it really just looks like that.

The Dinosaurs releasing on Netflix is a double edged sword. On one hand it’s a solid intro to dinosaurs available to a wide audience. On the other, having such a wide audience has really brought out all the brain dead mouth breathers who can’t function without AI or conspiracies
