@viperwave I remember cutting them out of the ball and finding out there was a magnification effect, and they were like half the size I thought

@meleepikanair The GSC competitive metagame pretty much revolves completely around snorlax so it makes sense

@Fang83768513 @jutyrannus @daspletoraptor In one of the papers they talk about the possibility that they would have developed hollows like really big trees do today. There aren't any preserved with them, but there is evidence of damage from the kinds of insects and fungi that cause this to happen.

@jutyrannus @Tomozaurus @daspletoraptor Hear me out.... You hollow out parts of the tree and have epic tree house

I decided not to do a full new reconstruction at this time, but here is a quick and crude size comparison of the new specimens to an adult Brachiosaurus and Diplodocus hallorum for some perspective.

So a recent paper has confirmed that Araucaria delevoryasii (described from vegetation, seed & pollen cones) and Agathoxylon hoodii (petrified logs) from the Morrison Formation are the same plant. Here is my reconstruction done for Prehistoric Kingdom. Brief thread to follow.

Every man’s dream is to find a beautiful mid that looks at you like this.
Not an IG model, not some influencer who “heals through Miami,” but a girl who’s just effortlessly mid… in the most comforting way possible like this barista.
She laughs at your jokes, cares if you ate, and looks at you like you’re doing something special.
If you find that… keep her. That’s peace

@bunnynutter135 Probably not. They lack growth rings which suggests ideal growth conditions year-round without much annual stress. The Howe-Stevens Quarry is also in a more northerly part of the Morrison which seems to have been wetter. The southern part was drier.

@Tomozaurus A drought tolerant Araucaria with that size?

Glad everyone enjoyed the Jurassic trees! I couldn't help myself, so I've done some more, a tiny bit more rigorously this time.
This figure shows Araucaria delevoryasii trees from Utah with heights estimated using the Gee et al. (2019) method. Later images use a newer approach.
