So today my mom says..."Can I tell you something without you getting mad?" Umm....no guarantees. Then she proceeds to tell me she thinks my dog is ugly. Like WTF....who says that to someone?? And I'm still getting over the flu on top of that! Anyway, this is my boy, Taco, and I think he's handsome! He's over 9 months old and I rescued him from the shelter 2 days after my baby cat of over 14 years passed away.

@LukeEpplin Pointing out errors is a favourite occupation for many.

It never fails: you publish a book and within weeks the emails come in: "Hey, I liked your book and all, but on page 257, there's a typo that I want to call your attention to...." I don't understand this impulse to contact authors in this way.

@jameszimmermann @nostalgiafkninc It's difficult to realise how central shopping malls were in American culture. I grew up just a stone's throw from what was touted as the 'first enclosed mall east of the Mississippi,' but it's gone now, and countless other malls are closed or struggling.
