I don’t know if Wes Clarke is going to like him half as much as I do, but Egor Shilov is going to be on my draft endorsement list this year. At the top. Maybe number one. Teammates with D’Aigle so you know the Penguins are familiar. The release is just disgusting.

@RealHB17 It's very, very clear they felt STRONGLY that the best place for him was the AHL, but a five-game cond. loan was the only option because a dumb rule was preventing him from being where he needed to be.
They did the best they could, but I also think it probably hurt him a little.

@kelsey_surmacz4 Define disposable? I think he’s worth more than the second and c tier prospect you get for him in a trade but like you mentioned the first line production wise has been fine but I do think something is off about rust Crosby and Rakell line.

I swear I'm not Rickard Rakell's burner account, but he has four goals and 11 points in his last 10 games. He and Chinakhov were probably the Penguins' best all-around forwards last night.
I'm just baffled by the narrative on him right now. Do people think he's just disposable?

@RealHB17 I don't think we'll see them do anything like the Islanders & Red Wings at the deadline, but I do wonder if the timeline "shifting" makes them try to add 2 more Wotherspoon types, lower money/asset cost guys who they think can play a higer-up role on the depth chart

Really interested to see how the Pens approach their D this offseason. Karlsson's been stellar but he's 35 w/ 1 year left. Wotherspoon's solid but won't get *better*. Letang's falloff well documented, Shea's struggled lately & is a 29 yr old UFA, rest you'd prefer on the 3rd pair

@kelsey_surmacz4 I do wonder if the penguins were bad if he would of stayed the whole year. It sucks he couldn’t play in the AHL I think that would have been ideal for everyone.

And it's crazy to think about where the Pens were at the beginning of the season.
Harrison Brunicke had an excellent camp, and I think the team expected him to stick this season.
Given the situation now, gotta wonder if him being here all year and playing now would be any worse

The Penguins have signed forward Bill Zonnon to a three-year, entry-level contract. Zonnon, 19, was selected 22nd overall in the first round of the 2025 NHL Draft -- one of three first-round picks. He spent the 2025-26 season with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the QMJHL, recording 14 goals, 32 assists and 46 points in 35 games. Zonnon missed 29 games at the start of the season due to injury. A knee injury in the preseason forced him to miss the prospects challenge. He sustained a second undisclosed injury in November. Despite missing that much time, his 46 points still rank sixth on the Armada. Zonnon can turn pro next year because he is coming off his fourth season in the QMJHL. -- From Chris Halicke in Uptown
