Maura Healey Gives $30K to Migrants โ What Does $30K Buy?
By Jon Fetherston
For most working families in Massachusetts, $30,000 is life-changing money. It could mean a brand-new car in the driveway, a down payment on a modest home, a yearโs tuition for your child, or the complete renovation of your kitchen. It could fund a small business marketing campaign, keep the lights on for a year, or give a young person a head start in life.
But under Governor Maura Healey, $30,000 isnโt going to the people who built this state or who have paid into the system for decades. Itโs now a taxpayer-funded welcome package for newly arrived migrants covering rental subsidies, free health care, and EBT benefits.
Meanwhile, veterans wait months for housing, seniors skip prescriptions because Medicare doesnโt cover them, and working parents juggle two jobs just to afford rent. In Beacon Hillโs upside-down world, your hard-earned money is being handed out to people who just got here, many without legal status, while your own neighbors are left behind.
This isnโt compassion. Itโs neglect of the very citizens our leaders are sworn to serve. Itโs proof that our state government has forgotten who it works for.
The next time the Governor calls this an โinvestment,โ remember what $30,000 could do for you, your neighbors, or our veterans. Then ask yourself why itโs being spent everywhere but home.

@OldSchoolBoston Pretty sure this would have been in the early 60's.

@gehrig38 The best of the rest just flunked this test.

When I read stuff like this I am reminded at just how different we are, mentally. There is not a game, ever, where I wasn't competing hard, to my best. There is no such thing as going to the mound and just "doing stuff". I wanted to embarass and dominate every hitter to ever step in to the box, no exceptions.

@TheGadFlyRising @gehrig38 @Seth_3773 Well rehab starts for MLB pitchers are working on different pitches itโs not like they are out there competing hard. So if you hit a HR donโt point or act like a clown

The NFL could offer 18 games with every player limited to 17 games. @devinmccourty shares his thoughts on that possibility from a player's perspective.

The people defending US Senate candidate Graham Platner are those who accept his explanation for not knowing he had a Nazi tattoo.
But is his story the truth?
Platner claims that he got it in 2007 while serving in the Marines in Croatia, and that it was a drunken choice. He told the media in 2025 that he was unaware that the tattoo was a Totenkopf - a symbol used by SS guards at Nazi concentration camps - until it was brought to his attention during the Senate campaign. He then had it covered up by a tattoo artist in Maine.
But that story falls apart under scrutiny. Platner's former campaign director stated that the candidate knew exactly what was on his chest. She noted that he is a "military history buff," making it implausible that someone with an interest in war history wouldn't know the meaning of the ink carved into his skin for over 18 years.
That's consistent with the statements of another acquaintance of Platner, who knew him from his time living in Washington DC. Back in 2012, Platner was showing off his tattoo to friends, calling it "My Totenkopf." That's 13 years before he claims to have known the meaning of his Nazi tattoo.
So who do you believe, the people who confirmed that Graham Platner knew he had an Antisemitic tattoo on his chest, or do you believe the US Senate candidate who has a motive to lie about it?
