Perspective really is everything. A few years ago, I prayed to be this busy — to have the kind of work that keeps me up late and out early, building something real. Now I’m opening two nurseries in two different states, managing grows, testing new genetics, and surrounded by some of the best flower in the world thanks to the people I call friends. Instead, the kid sped off, blew a stop sign at 80mph, and killed a grandmother and three young children. ​Here is the most sobering part of the entire tragedy: The teenage son took a plea deal and will be released when he turns 19. His father got nearly four decades behind bars because, in the eyes of the law, he was the adult legally responsible for handing over those keys.
