I travel around and listen to politicians talk about budget spreadsheets, right to work and 3rd grade reading. Tired talking points. Pretty uninspiring stuff.

Let me get this straight > nearly every major democracy restricts mail in voting > they also require real, government issued ID > mail in votes (with no confirmation of citizenship during registration) switched the CA election > thus election in CA is one of the most insecure processes in the developed world There’s no question that fraud happened. It’s statistically certain The only question is whether CA can vote itself out of this mess, or if it’s already too far gone When is enough enough?

My wife and I got married in essentially the smallest ceremony possible, certainly when all said and done far below 5k. Yes - If you want to blow tons of money on a wedding, sure do your thing, but we wouldn't, so we didn't. We also didn't have any money and were very poor. I've seen wedding videos that look like trailers for films, I've heard of people blowing so much money they don't have. It's fine but I wonder if it correlates much with life beyond the wedding. Back in the old days - both old world and new world - people got married in churches, synagogues, and backyards and then had the receptions in the same places where people brought food and put something together. We are not the norm, I know that. Our wedding was decidedly small and not everyone wants that and that's okay. But if you are annoyed at the presumption that you have to have a huge thing and you have to go into major debt to finance it, remember that it's your wedding and you don't have to do that if you don't want to. Do what you want to do. The specifics of how much the wedding was are probably the least important things about your marriage which will last your whole life.

My hot take... There is absolutely no reason why you should spend more than $5,000 on a wedding if you’re making less than $1M+ a year. I literally got married in a parking lot wearing a $150 dress from Anthropologie with roses from the grocery store… and I was worth a few 8 figures. The modern wedding is nothing more than a huge financial cosplay we’ve normalized for pure performance sake.
