I know vending machines are priced higher because they charge me for the convenience, I could always get the items cheaper at an actual store but the fact I can get it on the go makes it easy and I will overlook the fact I’m paying $2-3 for a $0.50 bag of Doritos.
This woman is letting her kid use the Skittles vending machine for $9. No I’m not kidding, the novelty of picking out your own combination is cool but it’s not $9 cool. We see the cup in comes in, is this $9 worth of Skittles? I feel machines like this takes advantage of kid’s fondness of candy.
Driving home from North Carolina at night, I noticed my windows were glare and had a film on it, anytime headlights came by, my windshield became a glaring blinding mess that made it hard to see. I tried using a napkin and some water I had only to turn it into a smeared glaring blinding mess. At the next rest stop they had a vending machine with Tylenol, Pepto Bismol and other medicines as well as Windex wipes for the windows.
So of course I bought the Windex wipes to help with my issue, the machine sold them for $5 for 5 wipes, so a dollar a wipe. Was it a ripoff? Of course, but what was my other options? Sometimes I think these machines are meant to take advantage of us when we are in need.

The latest and greatest wave of vending machines is here and they are AI. Scan your card, it authorizes a preset amount by the owner for like $10 to make sure you have money, then it allows me to open the door. I take what I want and multiple cameras track what was taken and charges my card when I close the door. There is battery backup in case anyone wants to unplug it and steal. Would you use this, is it really impossible to steal from? I once tried to have a vending machine at the shop, I stocked it with things I think kids would like, candy, chips, basic items that appeal to everybody really. It’s a good way to make money but not without some headaches. People trying to shake the machine, items getting stuck, glitches that overcharge or undercharge and people trying to scam me claiming they out a $50 or other high amount in and claiming the machine took it. I ended up getting rid of it when it broke, I didn’t feel like having it serviced and ended up selling it to another location. Would I do it again? Not snacks, I would do a drink one, they seem to be the popular one especially bottled water. One of my friends has one and she buys the bottled water at Costco for cheap and turns around and sells it in the machine for $3.

@GloriaCampos I retired from full time work at 65. But I continued working part time until 72.
But just last week I turned in my laptop, work cell and entry badge. I am finally completely retired! No more TV.
