Republicans continue to lie. They say ICE is being defunded. It’s not. The normal ICE budget is ~$10 billion a year. Trump’s big ugly bill gave them an extra $75 billion, pre-funding ICE w/ a slush fund bigger than the military budget of most countries.

Last night, the Senate passed a unanimous, bipartisan bill to fund the security agencies like @TSA & @fema that keep us safe. Instead of voting for it, extremist MAGA lunatics in the House blew up the deal. If they want to play the blame game, I’m gonna call them on their BS.

Neguse: All we hear is noise. The kind of noise that expects the American people to believe that every conservative Republican U.S. Senator passed a bill last night that defunds the police. That's their argument.

You may be wondering why the House hasn’t passed the TSA funding bill sent over by the Senate this morning. The answer is simple: Republicans don’t listen to the American people.

We have a bill that would pass and fund all of DHS except for ICE and CBP. Why is @SpeakerJohnson playing pointless partisan games, refusing to bring it to the floor, and leaving TSA agents hanging out to dry?

McGovern: Stop the BS that somehow ICE is being defunded. $85 billion. That's what they have. Their normal budget is $10 billion a year. Only Republicans would say that somehow that's not enough

Rep. McGovern: Republicans cannot govern. In fact, the American people should be able to sue you for malpractice. I want to say to the American people that if you woke up this morning not knowing who to blame for this shutdown, you will go to bed tonight with no doubt on who to blame. It's House Republicans and Speaker Johnson.

Neguse (D-CO) at House Rules Cmte mtg on House Republicans opposed to the Senate-passed DHS funding bill: "If we defeat the previous question (on the 60-day DHS CR rule) on the floor, the Senate bill will get a vote. And I have no doubt, no doubt, that if the Senate bill gets a vote, it will pass by an overwhelming margin."

McGovern says GOP continuing DHS shutdown is "insane" and "shameful." Dems pressing that they would vote for the Senate bill that funds all of DHS except ICE and CBP.
