Maritime Excellence and Regional Integration • Logistical Corridors: The establishment of specialized operational lanes to optimize the movement of containers and transit cargo. • Strategic Hubs: Deployment of advanced storage and redistribution zones at primary maritime gateways, including King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, to streamline regional supply chains. 2. Strategic Rail Expansion • Intermodal Freight Initiative: The activation of new rail corridors connecting the Eastern Province ports directly to the Al-Haditha border crossing. • Operational Efficiency: This 1,700-km rail link is engineered to reduce transit durations by approximately 50%compared to conventional road transport, significantly lowering carbon footprints and logistics costs. 3. Aviation Support and Continuity • Regional Carrier Integration: Saudi airports are actively hosting and facilitating operations for regional carriers - including those from Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar, to ensure uninterrupted regional air traffic and passenger connectivity. 4. Modernization of Land Freight Operations • Regulatory Updates: Extending the permissible operational lifespan for freight trucks within the Kingdom to 22 years. This regulatory adjustment is intended to bolster fleet capacity and support the private sector in meeting escalating market demand. The Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), during its 48th session held from November 10–14 at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Rome, adopted the first international standard for fresh dates. This achievement occurred during the Kingdom’s co-chairing of the working group for international standard development. This global adoption reflects the Kingdom’s leading position in the dates sector, as the world’s largest exporter of dates, and highlights its influential role in shaping international standards that contribute to raising food quality and safety globally. Furthermore, it highlights the active role of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (@Saudi_fda_en ) in strengthening the international food standards system and enabling Saudi products to compete in global markets. The standard was developed in coordination between the SFDA and the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (@MEWA_KSA), building upon existing cooperation among national entities involved in the dates sector. This collaboration aims to strengthen the Kingdom's international presence and support the national economy by improving export efficiency and enhancing the global value of Saudi dates. The new international standard aims to raise the quality and safety of dates and facilitate their international trade by establishing unified and comprehensive standards that contribute to harmonizing food specifications among member states. This will enhance the reliability of date trading in global markets. The SFDA affirmed that this achievement reflects the Kingdom's leading technical and regulatory expertise in developing international standards and specifications. A standout performer in this diversification strategy is the Saudi food sector. Driven by the National Industrial Strategy (@NIDLP_2030), the sector now exports over SAR 22 billion annually, supported by a robust network of approximately 1,900 local food factories.
