This is the @SECGov’s M.O: - Wear someone down through a lengthy investigation - send a Well’s Notice alongside a horrible settlement offer. Basically a 3-6 months ultimatum - if they accept - SEC gets an easy regulation-by-enforcement win. Otherwise, a lawsuit is filed. For @coinbase the deal was clearly shutting down the majority of their business, and for crypto in the US this would’ve been even worse. Good for them for fighting back. My take is still that the SEC v Coinbase lawsuit is the final act of crypto regulatory uncertainty in the US, and the good guys will win.
