@MeAnIntellectu6 I completely disagree, I found most of the cuts to greatly enhance it, but that’s not even the point. It’s not “crucial” when the meaning of the arc is perfectly comprehensible without it. That’s not crucial. It just reinforces the message.

@Screen_Takes Arc 3 is a million times weaker in the anime than in the novels. Upon first watch I found it to be no more than an 8/10. It's only in hindsight that I could truly appreciate what they were doing. Had there been fewer cuts it would have been far better

My most controversial Re:Zero opinion is that, within the context of Season 1, cutting this was a great choice for preserving the core emotional and thematic beat that’s supposed to be hit in the very next scene. This reveal completely distracts from the ceremony and its fallout.

@LustSubaru This is so damn good. His unnatural pose, the shadows, the imposing framing, all contrasted by the backlit confident stance of his normal self. Same person portrayed in opposite ways. This is what people mean when they talk about the direction in the series being great

@Everlaft I agree. Season 3 would’ve been the perfect place to introduce it. S3 mentions Hoshin and we see Japanese culture in Priestella. Regulus is defeated with Subaru’s knowledge of our constellations. Earth actually becomes relevant here, so not reincorporating it is a bit baffling.

@Screen_Takes Yeah, this reveal would've taken up so much of the viewer's attention that they'd just be asking "but what about Al? Maybe we should ask Al," the entire time without really paying much attention to the rest of what's happening

You can critique parts of a story while overall loving the direction and themes.
