@theisabelb Very shocking. @grok is this some fringe publication not representative of what ordinary schools are teaching?

Teenagers are sharing photos of their AP U.S. Government textbooks, and the sheer amount of indoctrination is wildly disturbing.
Apparently, Barack Obama is ideologically a right wing authoritarian.
Hillary Clinton and George W Bush are entirely indistinguishable politically.
Donald Trump is of course virtually the same as Hitler.
@tedcruz is apparently more radically authoritarian than Fidel Castro AND Joseph Stalin..??!!??
@Linda_McMahon — can we expedite some major changes to American public education?

Michigan was clearly the better team. They shot 38% from the field and 13% from 3 point range, got out rebounded, had fewer assists and still won the National Championship on their off day. #GOBlue

@danorlovsky7 They reviewed the push on Cadeau…to do what? (Should have been foul #6) Gonna congratulate themselves on another blown call?

@MarchMadnessMBB tell me this game is being called evenly with a straight face. Wow.

@Elex_Michaelson @christiangrose @CNNTheStoryIs I’m curious about whether those who squashed this debate feel about democracy and who stands in its way…

What’s the inside story of the cancelled USC/ABC7 debate for CA Governor?
@christiangrose came up with the criteria that USC used to decide who got invited & who didn’t.
He explains his formula & responds to critics who call it “racist” in this @CNNTheStoryIs interview:

@asymmetricinfo 🤣 more irrefutable evidence as to why you are my favorite follow lately.

“Asked for comment, the subject gave an unprintable response “ is both funnier and more accurate
Barred in DC@BarredinDC
IMO as a reader it’s misleading for reporters to say “declined to comment” if the response was anything other than “no comment” or similar. They don’t need to print the BS response but at least be accurate. AP style guide doesn’t cover this, what’s taught in j-schools?

@asymmetricinfo Citizens across all socioeconomic levels would probably be more willing to pay higher taxes if the government simply sent everyone a clear, itemized receipt.
How much went to that extra side of ranch subsidy, the chips & salsa weren’t free…
Make the DMV not suck, start there.

The comments to my recent column on the wealth tax make me wonder if high decouplers should be allowed to mix with the general population. It makes them very mad. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2026/…

@StevenBartlett sleep episode was great. It took me consecutive nights listening, one head phone in…to wake up and find it in the AM.

Marc Andreessen: There are two ways to think about education. One is at the national level — how do you educate all kids? But the real question is N = 1: what do you do for one individual kid? And for centuries, the answer has been obvious.
If your goal is to maximize a single child, the best method by far is one-on-one tutoring. Every royal family knew this. Every aristocratic class knew this. It’s why Alexander the Great was tutored by Aristotle — and then took over the world.
There’s actually statistical proof of this. The Bloom’s 2-sigma effect shows one-on-one tutoring can move a kid from the 50th percentile to the 99th percentile. No other educational method comes close.
AI changes that. For the first time in history, every kid can have access to infinite questions, instant feedback, personalized explanations, and real-time quizzes — all at N = 1 scale.
This is the most powerful shift in education we’ve seen in centuries. One-on-one tutoring was always the gold standard. AI is what finally makes it available to everyone.

It would be reasonable if there were any evidence that education degrees made people better at teaching, but there isn't, and the opposite may be true.

I've never understood this. If you're a retired engineer and want to teach physics or math, you'll have to go back to school for years before they let you in a classroom -- the fact you're an expert counts for nothing.
