True story. This was sometime in 2024. We had just finished our workout at the gym and I told him to wait for me while I quickly did my abs. He said he’d be in the car and told me to call him when I was done so he could direct me to where he parked,I didn’t call I already knew his usual spot,I got there, opened the door and entered and the first thing I noticed was how fast he ended a call. Like immediately, I asked who he was talking to, but instead of answering me, he got annoyed that I didn’t call him first,That alone told me everything I needed to know. Because I had already been suspecting for weeks,little lies, changed routines, energy that just didn’t feel right,So I didn’t argue. I didn’t beg. I didn’t even accuse him. I just sat there and decided to be a little wicked and very petty,I called a guy I knew liked me and I started flirting with him right there in his car not even subtle,Laughing, teasing everything. The way his mood changed Immediately eh🤣He went from calm to visibly angry. And because he was bald, I could literally see the veins on his head popping. He asked me who I was talking to. I told him, why are you asking? You don’t owe me explanations, I don’t owe you either. That was when everything scattered,We started arguing, and I won’t lie it got to a point where I felt unsafe. His tone changed, his grip on the steering wheel tightened, and for a second I regretted pushing him that far. I told him to stop the car and let me get down. He refused. So I raised my voice and started shouting for help,He stopped. I slammed the door and left. Blocked him everywhere the same night and switched gyms a week later. Till today, I haven’t seen him again. Maybe I shouldn’t have done what I did… but I don’t regret it either. Two weeks after that fight he got married. That was when I knew my instincts were never wrong. And honestly I’m still glad I did what I did. Because if I didn’t get that clarity that night, it probably would have hurt me a lot more later.

Yet this purported missionary, an American citizen, is being overlooked, even though he is clearly inciting violence and attempting to create unrest between Muslims and Christians in Plateau State, and by extension, across the country. To my understanding, missionaries are peace-loving individuals who spread the word of God. If any vagabond is allowed to use that identity to cause unrest, it amounts to a disservice to missionaries and their mission. I believe Christian leaders should call him out and hand him over to the authorities before he damages their image. Security agencies should also act swiftly before the situation escalates, especially as Plateau is already dealing with a very fragile peace. I commend the Plateau State government, however, for promptly imposing a 48-hour curfew, which will go a long way toward calming tensions among residents, many of whom are already angry and on the verge of retaliating against innocent neighbours.
