35-year-old Man Sentenced to 10 Years Imprisonment for R@ping a 5-year-old Girl in Abia The Abia State Government has secured the conviction of a child s+xual offenders in a major step towards tackling s+xual and gender-based vi%lence in the state. 35-year-old man from Akwa Ibom State was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by a Family Court sitting at the High Court in Umuahia after he was found guilty of def!ling a 5-year-old girl. In same crackdown, A 32-year-old offender received a 30-year prison sentence after being convicted of def+ling a 13-year-old girl.   Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, disclosed the development on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, while briefing journalists in Umuahia on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti.
