To brace or not to brace? It can be a tough question when you're managing knee conditions in the #emergencydepartment . The answer is, it depends.
Dr. Taylor Bush will tell you what it depends on.

Learn it from THE GOAT.
Dr. @ltenbarge will teach you how to effectively get the information you need from patients and build the alliance you need to provide efficient care.
The Top of Scope Summit is all about essentials this year. It doesn't get more essential than this.

Everyone makes mistakes in their career. Usually we just talk about our great catches. Dr. Bush shares a miss and how she learned and grew from that. Tune in to the full episode for more on #IntheEDNow. #EDPT #PTintheED #TopofScope #Growingpains

@Dizzy_DPT_Dad @DrKatBuilds @lathompson71 @TheEDDPT Love this! Were nurses and MD’s supportive? And what did that flow look like? In my ED we get a consult, talk to MD, check in w/ RN and then finally see the patient. This seems more efficient and great for throughput time

@DrKatBuilds @lathompson71 @TheEDDPT When I ran our ED PT program we had our chief of medicine sign off on "protocol orders" for PT for a bunch of diagnoses (vertigo, LBP, falls, etc)...basically we had free range to eval whoever was appropriate and could just have the nurses enter the order for us.

@TBthrows I just shared this with my class as we had a discussion on ethics today.
English

@Jerry_DurhamPT @WicksAB Woah! I mean makes sense, but again something I wouldn’t have thought about before.
English

@StacieFruth Talking about ways to handle something like that before it actually happens is so helpful so I’m glad you do too!
English

@TBthrows I actually do talk with my students about just that...and I'm so glad I do. As hard as it is.
English

@rpletterioDPT It’s such a shitty feeling and infuriating. Sorry that happened to you!
English

@TBthrows I had a patient I worked with as a student with SS bolts tattooed behind his ear. My CI didn't know what they were for and asked him, pt told him they were because he rode his motorcycle like lightning. I had to educate my CI that day
English

@mikestuderPT I talked to her about why she felt that way towards PTs. She felt she wasn’t being listened to and was being judged or deemed “lazy”. So just created a good rapport and listened. She was happy at the end but this is in ED so I won’t get to see her again to see if it stuck.
English

@TBthrows Elaborate. How did you overcome her #confirmationbias ?
