For those who doubted my argument that the Secret Service has been badly hurt by the irresponsible action of the congressional Democrats in refusing to fund their office here is the testimony of Matthew Quinn, deputy director of the Secret Service , before the Homeland Security Subcommittee February 11: “gaps in funding have a profound impact on the agency today and into the future…the repercussions on our agency are profound…a shutdown halts our reform efforts and undermines the momentum…the financial burden on our personnel during a shutdown is real.. our difficult mission becomes exceptionally more difficult during a lapse in mission.” I repeat my proposal that congress be called back into session seven days a week, 24 hours a day, until Schumer and Jeffries recognize that they have an obligation to put America ahead of Democratic politics and fund Homeland Security. This is a national scandal and the Democrats have made it deliberately worse.
